Job summary

Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is building a new state-of-the-art biosubstance facility in Athlone, Ireland.

The Bio-Process Technician will join a high-performing shift team producing biopharmaceuticals using MCS automation, completing batch records, and maintaining SAP materials consumption with a focus on continuous improvement. The role requires experience in biotech manufacturing, cGMP compliance, and leadership in process areas.

Qualifications

• Experience translating biotech processes into batch records and SOPs.
• Familiar with biopharmaceutical equipment such as bioreactors, glass washers, media/buffer systems, and purification systems.
• Knowledge of cGMPs and regulatory requirements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Level 2 Core Bioprocess Technician requires 2+ years’ external cGMP biotech experience or 1.5–2 years at Level 1 with competency.

Responsibilities

• Execute core production tasks in cell culture, media preparation, purification, and buffers.
• Lead CI improvements and act as Champion to drive manufacturing improvements.
• Ensure accurate batch records and SOP/documentation in a cGMP environment.
• Assist with training colleagues in SOPs and process execution.
• Support start-up, validation activities, and equipment installation for new products.
