Job summary

AbbVie Inc. is seeking a Biologics Technical Operations Scientist to provide advanced technical leadership and program management to biologics manufacturing on site in Westport, Ireland.

You will sustain existing products, resolve complex challenges, and drive continuous improvement across the manufacturing lifecycle. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage tech transfers, scale-ups, and deliver robust process controls while maintaining regulatory and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated project management capability to lead cross-functional workstreams and deliver projects on schedule.
• Ability to deliver projects within budget and to predefined quality standards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Proven ability to work across operations, quality, engineering, validation, and regulatory functions.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership to Production Team Leaders to optimize process performance and equipment reliability.
• Lead process development activities for existing products including tech transfer and scale-up to plant equipment.
• Develop and implement process controls to optimize manufacturing processes and robustness.
• Design and refine process control for continuous improvement of existing processes.
• Manage process improvement projects from initiation through execution within scope, budget, and timeline.
• Support and uphold all EHS standards, promoting safety and regulatory compliance.
• Lead root cause analyses for non-conformances and develop CAPAs aligned with regulatory expectations.
• Design and execute pilot-scale DOE studies to generate development packages for decision-making.
• Provide technical support for commissioning and validation activities throughout project execution.
• Ensure adherence to Corporate, Divisional, quality, and regulatory policies.
