Job summary

Mercury Engineering in Dublin seeks an experienced BIM Manager to lead BIM strategy, governance and digital delivery across complex projects. You will drive BEP, ISO19650 compliance, CDE management, and BIM coordination with design and construction teams.

You will mentor BIM teams, plan resources, oversee OSM and DfMA, support 4D planning, and ensure alignment between models, drawings and schedules. Excellent leadership, communication, and technical skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience as a BIM Manager or senior BIM role.
  • Strong leadership, coordination and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of ISO 19650 and BIM execution planning.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience in Digital Construction, OSM, automation, and surveying.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary BIM coordination and clash detection.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:
BIM Leadership & Digital Strategy
  • Lead and implement BIM and Digital Construction strategies aligned with project and business objectives.
  • Act as the primary BIM and digital engineering point of contact.
  • Define and manage BIM objectives in line with EIR/AIR.
  • Drive adoption of OSM, DfMA, automation, AI tools, and digital fabrication methods.
  • Promote innovation, standardisation, and continuous improvement across the BIM function.
Team Managment & Capability Development
  • Lead, mentor, and manage BIM teams across the project.
  • Plan and allocate resources based on programme and construction needs.
  • Assess teams and subcontractors for BIM capability, digital readiness, and surveying capacity.
  • Support ongoing training and development.
  • Promote collaboration across BIM, design, construction, and manufacturing teams.
BIM Governance, Standards & Planning
  • Develop and implement the BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 19650, Mercury standards, and project requirements.
  • Oversee the Common Data Environment (CDE) and document control processes.
  • Support continuous improvement of BIM standards and workflows.
Model Drawing and Data Managment
  • Take full responsibility for the production, coordination, and quality of BIM models and drawings.
  • Oversee development of:
    • 3D models and coordinated MEP layout
    • Combined services and penetration drawing
    • Support systems and containment detailing
    • GA drawings and prefabrication deliverables
    • Technical drawings, BOMs, and procurement schedules
  • Ensure alignment between models, drawings, schedules, and construction data.
  • Manage drawing registers, revisions, and CDE records.
  • Deliver BIM outputs aligned with construction sequencing and programme requirements, including 4D BIM in coordination with the planning team.
Coordination & Technical Delivery
  • Lead multidisciplinary BIM coordination and clash detection.
  • Facilitate coordination meetings and model reviews.
  • Establish workflows between BIM, design, and construction teams.
  • Resolve design and constructability issues and elevate risks where required.
  • Participate in client, design, and construction meetings to support project delivery
OSM & Digital Fabrication
  • Drive BIM-enabled Offsite Manufacturing (OSM) and Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) processes.
  • Develop models for modular construction, prefabrication, and fabrication outputs.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing partners to ensure models are suitable for production and installation.
Construction and Site Support
  • Support site teams in interpreting BIM models and implementing design intent.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and consultants to ensure correct installation.
  • Ensure federated models reflect current construction status and approved changes.
  • Assist with construction-driven coordination challenges.
Surveying, Reality Capture & Digital Setting Out
  • Manage surveying, laser scanning, and reality capture processes.
  • Oversee digital setting-out using robotic total stations and site-print systems.
  • Prepare BIM data for site execution, including penetrations and support layouts.
  • Ensure alignment between BIM models, site conditions, and as-built data.
Asset Information & Project Handover
  • Manage asset data from BIM models throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure alignment between BIM models, asset registers, and construction status.
  • Deliver COBie and digital handover information in line with EIR/AIR requirements.
Automation & Emerging AI Technologies
  • Implement automation workflows to improve efficiency and standardisation.
  • Support AI-assisted tools for model validation, clash analysis, and reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive BIM processes.
  • Ensure all digital tools comply with governance and project requirements.
Quality, EHS and Site Compliance
  • Ensure QA/QC compliance for BIM deliverables.
  • Support project safety initiatives and EHS compliance.
  • Promote safe use of digital tools and site technologies.
  • Conduct site engagement to ensure BIM implementation aligns with construction activities.
Reporting and Communication
  • Produce weekly and monthly BIM reports covering progress, risks, constraints, and resource usage.
  • Escalate critical issues to senior management.
  • Maintain communication with stakeholders, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations as required.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a BIM Manager or senior BIM role
  • Strong experience in BIM delivery, Digital Construction, OSM, automation, and surveying
  • Knowledge of ISO 19650 and BIM execution planning
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced BIM software knowledge
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
