The Position:
A growing engineering consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced BIM/Digital Lead – MEP to take responsibility for BIM delivery and the continued development of our digital engineering capability. This is a senior, hands‑on position for someone with strong MEP consultancy experience and excellent Revit knowledge. The successful candidate will work closely with the mechanical and electrical engineers, lead BIM coordination across projects and help improve our standards, templates and workflows. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of BIM within the practice while remaining actively involved in project delivery. The role may suit an experienced Senior BIM Technician, Senior BIM Coordinator, MEP BIM Coordinator or BIM Lead who is ready to take on greater responsibility.
The Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Leading BIM delivery and coordination across mechanical and electrical projects
- Developing and managing coordinated MEP Revit models
- Producing and reviewing drawings, layouts, sections, details and schedules from Revit
- Coordinating mechanical and electrical services with architectural, structural and other design
- Carrying out clash detection and coordination using Revit and Navisworks
- Working directly with the mechanical and electrical engineers to develop coordinated designs
- Attending BIM, design-team and coordination meetings
- Developing and maintaining company Revit templates, families and modelling standards
- Improving BIM workflows and quality-control procedures
- Supporting project requirements under ISO 19650
- Reviewing BIM models for coordination, consistency and quality
- Providing technical support and guidance to engineers and technicians using Revit
- Supporting and mentoring less experienced members of the team
- Assisting with BIM Execution Plans and other project‑specific BIM requirements
- Identifying opportunities to automate repetitive modelling, documentation, scheduling and checking tasks
- Helping assess and introduce useful digital tools, automation and AI where they can improve project delivery
- Applicants should have:
- Approximately 5–10 years’ relevant experience in MEP/Building Services BIM, preferably within an engineering consultancy
- Excellent hands‑on knowledge of Autodesk Revit MEP
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services
- Significant experience developing and coordinating MEP models on multidisciplinary projects
- Strong working knowledge of Navisworks and AutoCAD
- Experience with BIM coordination and clash detection
- Good understanding of ISO 19650 and BIM information‑management principles
- Experience developing Revit templates, families, standards and workflows
- Ability to manage BIM deliverables across several live projects
- Strong attention to detail and a good understanding of design coordination
- Good communication skills and confidence dealing with engineers, architects, contractors and other consultants
- Ability to support and guide other members of the team
- Experience with Dynamo, Revit API, scripting, computational design, BIM automation, model checking or AI‑assisted engineering tools would be an advantage but is not essential.
Leading BIM and Digital Delivery:
This role is intended for someone who can take responsibility for BIM within the practice.
As well as working on live projects, the successful candidate will help develop how BIM is delivered across the company. This will include improving standards, reviewing technical quality, supporting staff and identifying better ways to coordinate and deliver M&E; design information. We are also interested in practical uses of automation and AI where they can improve modelling, coordination, QA or project efficiency. Previous experience in this area would be useful, but strong BIM and MEP experience is the priority.
