Job summary

Speechify is seeking a backend-focused engineer to design, develop, and maintain APIs powering its text-to-speech products. You will own public and internal APIs, ensuring scalability and reliability across payments, analytics, and subscriptions.

You will work with cross-functional teams to align architecture with product strategy, pushing for high-availability services and fast, delightful user experiences in a distributed global environment.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience using TS/Node (required).
• Direct experience with GCP; knowledge of AWS/Azure or other clouds.
• Able to ideate and implement with focus and speed; task prioritization.
• Preferred: Docker and containerized deployments; Kubernetes experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs including public TTS API and internal APIs (Payment, Subscription, Auth, Consumption Tracking).
• Oversee the full backend API landscape; optimize for performance and maintainability.
• Collaborate on B2B solutions; address enterprise client integration needs.
• Align backend architecture with product strategy and user experience in cross-functional teams.
