Job summary

Methodius IT Recruitment is seeking an experienced Azure Data Engineer for a global technology organization in Ireland. You will modernise a legacy data platform, migrate PostgreSQL data lakes to cloud architecture on Microsoft Fabric and Azure, and build scalable data pipelines for reporting and BI.

You will work with Data Management, Analytics, and Business stakeholders to deliver trusted data for strategic decisions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related discipline.
4+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Analytics Engineering.
Strong SQL skills with complex transformations and data modelling.
Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines on-premises, hybrid, or cloud.
Hands-on with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL or similar RDBMS.
Experience delivering data platform modernisation or cloud migration projects.
Hands-on with Microsoft Azure and/or Microsoft Fabric.
Knowledge of lakehouse, data warehouse, and data governance concepts.
Experience with Python, Spark, or similar data engineering tools.
Excellent communication to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Responsibilities

Support, maintain, and enhance existing ETL pipelines in a data lake environment.
Lead data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration migrations to Microsoft Fabric.
Design and optimise scalable data pipelines for enterprise analytics and reporting.
Develop robust SQL-based transformation logic and analytic datasets.
Develop and optimise data models across lakehouse, dimensional, and relational architectures.
Create data structures to support reporting and self-service analytics.
Develop and optimise Power BI semantic models and datasets.
Collaborate with analytics teams to ensure performant, scalable data solutions.
Enable reliable insights through effective data aggregation from multiple sources.
