Automation Systems Technician – PLC, Vision & Data

Job summary

GxP Recruitment seeks an Automation/IT technician to support high-speed manufacturing lines and new product introductions. You will focus on PLCs, vision systems, data integrity, and security, ensuring minimal downtime across 12-hour shifts in a 3-day/4-day pattern.

You will collaborate with IT, Application Groups and vendors, provide final level support, and help implement best practices and documentation in line with ISO standards. A strong hands-on, team-oriented approach is essential.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years' relevant experience in Medical Devices or suppliers.
• Experience with PLC programming, in-line vision systems, barcode systems, network topology, PC application software, Remote I/O.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP and Wide Area Network architectures. Programming of Allen-Bradley Controllogix5000 and PLC5.

Responsibilities

• Manages and supports automation infrastructure for optimal performance and minimized downtime.
• Collaborates with IT and external resources to support Automation and Information Systems.
• Provides Final Third Level support on technical issues.
• Implements industry best practices to improve productivity, quality and efficiency.
• Installs and deploys systems, software and peripherals, liaising with vendors and purchasing.
• Provides technical direction for new infrastructure developments with Engineering Manager. Benchmarks system performance.
• Interfaces with Corporate Information Systems on standards, support, and new infrastructure developments. Performs backups and recovery.
• Ensures system connectivity of servers, shared software and applications.
• Delivers projects within budgets and timeframes; documents procedures to ISO standards.
• Contributes to new production lines in control, data collection, robotics and vision systems.
