Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a QA Engineer to contribute across multiple test phases, design and execute basic test scripts, and assist in building a robust quality framework in Ireland. You will select appropriate standards, methods and tools, monitor environments, and report risks to stakeholders.

Work includes automating tests, gathering metrics, and guiding junior team members to improve overall software quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• ISTQB Foundation is desirable.
• Certification in NFT tools such as LoadRunner, LoadUI, MSVS, Fortify, etc.
• Additional learnings or certification in Quality Engineering (e.g., CISSP, CISM).
• Experience with NFT, performance and test automation tools (e.g., JMeter, Neoload, BlazeMeter, Selenium, Jenkins, UFT, Cucumber, Gherkin).
• Theoretical knowledge in quality engineering methodologies.
• Good applications/technology knowledge and problem solving skills.
• Proficient in at least one programming language (VB/Java/C#).
• Knowledge of Cloud concepts and virtualization.
• Client-facing ability and quality verbal and written communication.
• Ability to self-manage and be adaptable.

Responsibilities

• Works on multiple phases of a project and/or multiple small projects of moderate scope and sometimes complex assignments.
• Selects appropriate standards, methods, tools and applications for project use.
• Creates and executes basic non-functional test scripts following guidelines and sets up test environments.
• Designs, codes, tests and documents simple programs or scripts and assists in implementation.
• Accurately identifies project risks and reports effectively to stakeholders.
• Manages issues, risks, actions, dependencies, and defects to project success.
• Coordinates information gathering and reporting, conducts research to define problems and prepare responses.
• Creates traceability records from test cases to requirements.
• Reports on system quality and collects metrics on test cases.
• Maintains project status and provides guidance to junior team members, collaborates across teams.

• Creates and executes basic non-functional test scripts following a given set of guidelines and sets up test environments, data and monitors
• Designs, codes, tests and documents simple programs or scripts and assist in the implementation of software which forms part of a properly engineered system
• Accurately identifies project risks and reports effectively to relevant stakeholders
• Manages issues, risks, actions, dependencies, and defects to the success of the project
• Coordinates the information gathering and reporting process, conducting research to define problems and preparing responses to anticipated questions
• Creates traceability records, from test cases back to requirements
• Reports on system quality and collects metrics on test cases
• Maintains the status of project and provides guidance to the work of junior team members, works across teams to achieve group goals

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience
• Desirable: ISTQB Foundation
• Certification in NFT tools such as LoadRunner, LoadUI, MSVS, Fortify, etc.
• Additional learnings or certification in Quality Engineering, such as CISSP and CISM
• Experience and knowledge in NFT, performance and test automation tools such as Performance Center/LoadRunner/StormRunner, LoadUI, JMeter, Neoload, BlazeMeter, SilkTest, Service Virtualisation, Jenkins, Selenium, UFT, Cucumber, Gherkin, TOSCA, BurpSuite, Fortify, Rational, ALM, Jira, etc.
• Intermediate theoretical knowledge in quality engineering methodologies
• Good applications/technology knowledge and problem solving skills
• Proficient in at least one programming language (ideally VB, Java or C#)
• Knowledge of Cloud concepts and virtualisation
• Client-facing ability and quality verbal and written communication
• Ability to self-manage and be adaptable
