The Role
The Automation Engineer will work as part of a site based engineering team in delivering projects and in supporting production and new product development teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Commissioning of new and modified process and utility equipment.
- Troubleshoot process, plant and equipment automation and controls hardware and software issues.
- Support development of new processes and new product introductions. Translating BMI steps into receipt requirements.
- Scope and oversee automation and controls projects qualification and commissioning on site.
- Attain knowledge and understanding of the plant equipment, unit operations and utility systems in order to enhance its performance as part of project specific initiatives.
- Develop and/or review commissioning documents.
- Provides On-Call support and attends site Call-Outs, outside of normal working hours.
- Create, review, and approve automation change controls.
- Maintain all site automation systems in a manner that meets organisation standards, statutory and compliance requirements, and minimises equipment downtime.
- Electrical drawing mark-up, review and approval.
- Lead and or participate in process, quality and safety, inspections, audits, deviation investigations, HAZOP’s, change management, root cause analysis and development of solutions.
Education, Knowledge & Experience
- B.Sc. in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or Instrumentation with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
- Knowledge of DeltaV or other DCS system is required. Ability to design, configure, program and commission.
- Chemical or Pharmaceutical experience is preferable, technical knowledge of production processes and operations.
- Knowledge and understanding of hardware and software drawings in relation to E&I and P&ID’s.
- Process safety knowledge and experience including ATEX regulations (EX / IS systems), HAZOP’s and Risk Assessments.
