Automation Engineer – DeltaV (Contract)

Location: Ireland (site-based role)

Contract Duration: Immediate start

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer (DeltaV) to join a large-scale program delivering automation and digital solutions. This role is focused on DeltaV systems, working closely with cross-functional teams, vendors, and partners to ensure successful project delivery in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review user requirements for DeltaV modules.
  • Review and approve design documentation.
  • Scope and implement changes to DeltaV systems.
  • Contribute to Agile sprint teams for software development.
  • Support commissioning and qualification activities, including FATs, loop testing, and onsite commissioning.
  • Apply software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices to manage system changes.
  • Configure and test automation solutions in development environments.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Provide guidance on automation standards, system configuration, validation, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with IT and digital teams to ensure secure and standardised implementation.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Training in DeltaV standard and batch, with 3+ years’ experience in DeltaV applications.
  • Strong background in supporting capital projects and business analysis.
  • Good understanding of cGMP, SDLC methodologies, and continuous improvement principles (LEAN/Six Sigma).
  • Excellent problem-solving, facilitation, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to define business problems, build cases for change, and deliver effective solutions.
  • Proven track record of working in cross-functional teams.

Desired Experience

  • Commissioning DeltaV systems in GMP manufacturing facilities.
