Job summary

Lead Group Ireland is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to support the commissioning and ongoing development of a new pharmaceutical filling line in Kerry. The role offers hybrid working options and a long-term contract with competitive hourly rates.

You’ll work hands-on on Siemens S7 PLC systems, performing programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning while collaborating with engineering, validation and manufacturing teams to hit project milestones and ensure GMP compliance

Qualifications

• Degree in Automation, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering or related.
• Minimum 5 years in Automation Engineering, preferably pharma or regulated manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of Siemens S7 PLC systems.
• Hands-on PLC programming, troubleshooting and commissioning experience.
• Experience with automated manufacturing or filling equipment is advantageous.
• GMP understanding and pharma validation knowledge.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support installation, commissioning and qualification of automation systems for a new filling line.
• Work with Siemens S7 PLC systems, including troubleshooting and modifications.
• Provide hands-on technical support during commissioning, start-up and operation.
• Troubleshoot automation and control system issues to ensure equipment performance.
• Collaborate with engineering, validation and manufacturing to meet milestones.
• Support automation documentation, testing and GMP compliance.

Lead Group Ireland are currently recruiting for an experienced Automation Engineer to support the commissioning and ongoing development of a new pharmaceutical filling line at a major manufacturing facility in Kerry. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on Automation Engineer to work on a significant pharmaceutical project, with some flexibility for hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities;

• Support the installation, commissioning and qualification of automation systems associated with a new pharmaceutical filling line.
• Work with Siemens S7 PLC systems, including troubleshooting, programming and modifications.
• Provide hands‑on technical support during commissioning, start‑up and operational phases.
• Troubleshoot automation and control system issues to ensure optimal equipment performance.
• Collaborate with engineering, validation and manufacturing teams to ensure project milestones are achieved.
• Support automation documentation, testing and compliance with GMP requirements.

Requirements;

• Degree qualified in Automation, Electrical, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in an Automation Engineering role, ideally within pharmaceutical or other regulated manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience with Siemens S7 PLC systems.
• Hands‑on experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting and commissioning is highly desirable.
• Experience supporting automated manufacturing or filling equipment would be advantageous.
• Good understanding of GMP and pharmaceutical validation requirements.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
