Job Description

At AECOM, we're recruiting for an Associate: Project Manager to join our growing Project Management team in Cork.

About the Role

AECOM is looking for an experienced and motivated Associate: Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex healthcare and education projects across Cork and the wider Munster region.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced project management professional with a strong track record of delivering complex capital projects, ideally within the public sector. As an Associate: Project Manager, you will take a leadership role in managing projects throughout their lifecycle, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing key client relationships, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and governance.

The role will involve working closely with public sector clients, design teams, contractors, consultants, and statutory authorities to deliver high-quality healthcare facilities and education buildings that provide long-term value to clients and communities.

In addition to project delivery, you will contribute to the continued growth and development of AECOM's Project Management business, supporting client development, business opportunities, team development, and the delivery of best‑practice project management services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the successful delivery of healthcare and education projects through all stages of the project lifecycle, from business case, planning, and design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Take overall responsibility for the effective management and coordination of assigned projects, ensuring delivery against agreed scope, programme, budget, quality, and risk objectives.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for clients, developing trusted and long‑term relationships with public sector organisations, senior stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and statutory authorities.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, promoting effective collaboration across project management, cost management, design, engineering, and specialist consultancy disciplines.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project execution plans, delivery programmes, budgets, procurement strategies, risk registers, governance frameworks, and reporting arrangements.
  • Provide strong project governance and leadership, ensuring key risks, issues, decisions, and opportunities are identified, communicated, and proactively managed.
  • Monitor and report on project performance, taking appropriate corrective action to manage programme, cost, scope, quality, risk, and stakeholder requirements.
  • Lead and support procurement activities in accordance with Irish public procurement legislation, client requirements, and relevant forms of contract.
  • Coordinate design teams, contractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery and timely resolution of issues.
  • Prepare and present clear and concise project reports, progress updates, dashboards, and recommendations to clients and senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, environmental requirements, quality management systems, and AECOM governance standards.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and support to project managers and junior team members, contributing to the development of a high‑performing and collaborative project management team.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes, procedures, and best practice across the wider AECOM business.
  • Support business development and client relationship activities, including opportunity identification, proposals, tenders, and the development of new and existing client relationships.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of AECOM's Project Management business across the healthcare, education, and wider public sector markets.
