Hays has been retained to recruit an Associate Director to assist in overseeing our client's Bridges Division. This role offers the opportunity to lead a large team of Bridge Engineering professionals and has the potential to progress to Technical Director.
Your new role
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Lead and manage a local team of bridge engineering professionals.
- Business Development: Drive business development and manage tender bids for professional services contracts.
- Resource Planning: Conduct short, medium, and long-term resource planning to ensure project success.
- Design Oversight: Provide design input and oversee the delivery of structural aspects of projects.
- Project Management: Manage medium and large-sized projects, ensuring quality, timelines, and budgets are met.
- Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate with internal and external parties, including clients and stakeholders.
- Mentorship: Mentor and develop junior team members.
- PSDP Duties: Assist in undertaking the duties of the Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP).
What you'll need to succeed
Requirements:
- Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years of experience as a Bridge / Senior Bridge Engineer, with at least 10 years of experience on Irish projects post-graduation.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and hardworking, with a flexible approach.
- Proven ability to lead projects from a technical perspective.
- Experience in client-facing roles with excellent communication skills.
- Previous staff management experience.
- Proactive approach with a track record of delivering high-quality services to clients in both the public and private sectors.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in bridge design, inspection, assessment, and rehabilitation.
- Proficient in Eurocodes and structural analysis software (MIDAS Civil or LUSAS).
- Experience in the design and refurbishment of concrete, steel, and masonry structures.
- Proven experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
- Ireland and/or UK experience.
