We are now seeking an Associate to provide technically sound legal advice on a range of issues, whilst building and maintaining productive relationships with clients and intermediaries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technically sound legal advice directly to clients, with appropriate supervision from more senior fee earners, taking ownership of straightforward matters and transactions from end to end.
  • Stay informed of new legislation and market developments, and contribute to the team’s know-how by capturing precedents and procedures with the knowledge management team.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to client queries, understand the full range of services offered by Ogier, and identify opportunities to develop new client work.
  • Begin to develop negotiating skills in the preparation of legal costs estimates and quotations, providing input to partners as required.
  • Deliver excellent client service at all times, consistent with the firm’s professional and regulatory obligations, including those of the Law Society of Ireland and the Legal Services Regulatory Authority.
  • Manage your own financial responsibilities in line with group protocols, including time recording, billing, work in progress (WIP) and debt, and engage appropriate cash collection procedures.
  • Ensure clients are fully informed as to the legal costs and outlays that will be incurred on each matter, consistent with the firm’s obligations under the Legal Services Regulation Act 2015.
  • Effectively manage your own workload, reprioritising as required to meet client and partner expectations.
  • Support and coach trainee solicitors and more junior colleagues, and assist with the orientation of new joiners, bursary students and summer interns.
  • Seek feedback to build awareness of your own strengths and development areas, taking proactive steps to maximise personal effectiveness.
  • Promote teamwork and develop strong, productive relationships both internally and externally.
  • Keep up to date with technology and business tools relevant to the role, embracing a digital mindset and continuous improvement.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Qualified solicitor admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in Ireland, ideally at around 3 years’ PQE level.
  • Excellent academic background, including a 2:1 (or higher) at degree level, together with strong results in the FE-1 entrance examinations and the Law Society of Ireland’s Professional Practice Courses (PPC I and PPC II), or an equivalent qualification.

  • Excellent drafting and written communication skills, ensuring advice is clear, concise and easy to follow.
