Job summary

Nua Healthcare Services in Ballyfin, Co. Laois, Ireland, is seeking compassionate Assistant Support Workers to provide high‑quality, person‑centred care to individuals with complex needs. The role supports independence and daily living activities within our residential and community services.

You will work across a 24/7 roster, assisting with routines, education, and community participation. QQI Level 5 in Healthcare is required; a full driving licence is preferred.

Qualifications

• QQI Level 5 in Healthcare is required.
• Full driving licence is required or you are actively working toward obtaining one.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to work across a range of shifts and be flexible.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to individuals who avail of the service on a day-to-day basis.
• Support individuals in planning and managing daily activities and routines.
• Assist individuals to participate in local community activities.
• Help develop independence in daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, and personal care.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, standards and codes of practice.
• Work flexible shift patterns across a 24/7 service.

The Role of The Assistant Support Worker Qualified is to provide care to people who avail of our service. We will support you in developing and upskilling you in providing high quality care, maintaining professional working relationships with our team members and people who avail of our service.

We support people in reaching their full potential, to have a meaningful life through the supports of the services we provide to them.

This Will Include The Following On a Day-to-day Basis

• Supporting individuals with planning and managing their daily activities and routines.
• Providing support to individuals while accessing and participating in their local community.
• Assisting individuals with education, skills development, and achieving their personal goals and outcomes.
• Supporting individuals to develop and maintain independent living skills, including cooking, cleaning, laundry, attending appointments, and maintaining family and social connections.
• Maintaining a thorough understanding of, and adhering to, all Company policies, procedures, standards, regulations, and codes of practice, as far as is reasonably practicable.
• Working flexible shift patterns across a 24-hour, 7-day service to meet the needs of the individuals supported.

Skills Requirement

• QQI Level 5 in Healthcare is required.
• Previous experience in a support role or relevant life experience is desirable, but not essential.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with individuals, families, colleagues, and professionals.
• A full driving licence is required, or candidates must be actively working towards obtaining one.
• Flexibility and reliability to work across a range of shifts in line with service requirements.
