This is a 10-month fixed term contract with up to 24 hours per week, with a requirement for work Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays
Salary
€30,293.00 (pro-rata for 3-day week)
Company Description
Five Rivers Fostering is an independent private fostering agency and has been in operation in Ireland since 2002. We were the first private fostering agency to be established in Ireland. Five Rivers was originally founded in England before setting up an office in Dublin, Ireland. Our Cork Office has been in operation since January 2011. We have a team working in the Northwest of the country with an office in Donegal. We work closely with Tusla. We are a social enterprise.

Work Base
The job is office based, Corporate Business Park 1, Blanchardstown.
Travel
Any travel expenses incurred will be reimbursed in line with company policy.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
The role of an Assistant Psychologist in Five Rivers Supports:
- Support the work of the Clinical Team through assisting in delivering in-depth, developmentally sensitive, trauma responsive assessment of children and young people.
- Support the work of the Fostering Team in their objectives to provide group Foster Carer and Staff training as part of the in-house trauma training.
- Support with the administration and organisation of the MDT via database management.
- Contribute to the research and audit needs of the MDT.
- The Assistant Psychologist will be clinically supervised by a qualified Psychologist in line with Psychological Society of Ireland Guidelines.
The following are the main duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Psychologist:
Clinical
- Contribute to assessments of children and young people through the use of standardised assessments; formal psychometric instruments, and collating/reviewing relevant historical information and multi-agency reports.
- Integrate assessment findings to inform clinical case formulations.
- Report writing.
- Attend multiagency professional meetings.
- Providing training to other staff, as appropriate.
- Liaison with referrers.
Professional
- Operate within the PSIs Code of Ethics.
- Ensure the protection of service user data in accordance with the PSI Code of Ethics and the Data Protection Act (2003).
- Have a working knowledge of and adhere at all times to the relevant national and local policy in relation to safeguarding children (e.g., Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children, 2011).
- Comply with FRI policies and procedures and observe all other relevant local and national policies.
- Maintain clinical practice that reflects the diverse cultural, religious and ethnic needs of service-users.
- Participate in induction and/or training as provided in FRI, regular supervision as agreed with clinical and line managers and seek additional supervision when required.
- Participate in line management supervision with the local Psychologist (or his/her nominated designate).
- Engage in ongoing continuous professional and personal development to maintain and develop relevant professional skills.
Organisational
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with multidisciplinary team members and community agencies.
- Attend local clinical and multidisciplinary meetings as required by FRI.
- Attend national meetings as required (remuneration of travel costs will be provided in accordance with company policy).
- Plan, prioritise and manage ones workload in line with objectives of FRI.
- Maintain computer files with FRI guidelines and professional standards.
- Attend Continual Professional Development opportunities as agreed with clinical and line managers.
- Update FRI policies and procedures as required.
Research/Administrative
- Support wait list management and associated administrative tasks.
- Conduct research, audit and service evaluations as required.
- Conduct literature searches, produce information leaflets, and carry out other tasks necessary to the efficient running Five Rivers Supports.
- Conduct assessments/audits as required to monitor and evaluate service delivery e.g. pre and post therapy assessments.
- Develop and maintain a knowledge base of both developments in the clinical fields relevant to the population served FRI and the associated resources that can be used to meet the needs of this population.

Requirements
Candidates must have:
- Eligibility for graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland
AND
- Evidence of excellent interpersonal effectiveness and communication
Evidence of specialist knowledge related to psychology
Evidence of excellent organizational skills
Evidence of reflective capacities
Evidence of understanding of the needs of children and young people in care
In addition to the above, the following are desirable but not essential requirements:
- Previous experience of evidence based mental health interventions with vulnerable/inneed populations
- Previous experience of clinical interviews and use of a variety of psychometric assessment
- Proven capacity to work in a high-pressure environment with competing demands
- Capacity to sit with distress and complexity
- Awareness of and ability to work in an inter-disciplinary manner
- Awareness of issues of confidentiality and child protection when working with clients
- Demonstrate an awareness of the value of effective supervision
- Demonstrate flexibility and openness to change
- Information technology skills
- Access to transport
