Qualifications

Headway is an internationally accredited service organisation that supports adults who are affected by an AcquiredBrain Injury, whether from stroke, traumatic head injury or other cause. With 90 staff throughout the country, Headway serves over 1200 clients and family members and answers around 1000 helpline queries per annum.

We are currently seeking to recruit an Assistant Psychologist to join our team. This contract role will will be based in our head office in Dublin 7.

Skills/Experience Required

  • Degree in psychology recognised by the PSI / BPS required.
  • Previous experience of neuropsychological assessment, anxiety management training or work with people with acquired brain injury is desirable.
  • Enthusiasm and attention to detail are essential.
  • Previous group facilitation and clinical experience an advantage.
  • Excellent administration and computer skills.

Role Summary

To support the work of the psychological services and rehabilitation teams in providing specialist assessment and rehabilitation services to persons with an acquired brain injury and their families.

Main Duties

  • Supports the Psychological Services team in providing a service for persons with a brain injury including individual & group assessment and treatment. Knowledge of cognitive, behavioural and functional assessment measures would be an advantage.
  • Supports the Psychological Services team in providing specialist vocational assessment and rehabilitation for persons with brain injury.
  • Contributes through collaboration with other disciplines to the delivery and development of clinical services that maintain, promote and re-establish psychological well-being and social re-integration of persons with brain injury.
  • Assists the Rehabilitation Team in the planning, implementation, administration and review of specialist rehabilitation programmes for persons with brain injury.
  • Group facilitation and support cover as required in all groups running across Dublin services.
  • Attends relevant team meetings and staff meetings as appropriate and agreed with the Manager.
  • Co-facilitation of Carer Group on a monthly basis (Saturday morning / weekday evening).
