Grant Thornton is seeking an Assistant Manager in Financial Services Audit to join our Dublin team (and another location). You will lead audit delivery for Banking, Insurance and Asset Management clients, supervise teams, and build strong client relationships across a global network.

Qualifications

  • ACA/ACCA (or equivalent) qualified with a minimum of 4 years post-qualified experience.
  • Strong background in audit in financial services: Banking, Insurance, Asset Management.

  • Experience in a Big 4 or Top 10 firm is advantageous.

Assistant Manager – Financial Services Audit

Our Financial Services Audit department is expanding rapidly. We work with a wide range of clients in Banking, Insurance, Asset Management, and other financial services sectors both locally and internationally. We are seeking passionate, self-motivated, and driven individuals to join our team and contribute to high-profile client engagements.

Role Overview

As an Assistant Manager in our Financial Services Audit team, you will play a pivotal role in managing and delivering high-quality audit services to clients in Banking, Insurance, and Asset Management. You will work closely with senior leaders, lead audit teams, and be responsible for building and maintaining strong client relationships. In addition, you will provide guidance and support to junior colleagues while overseeing audit projects from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Audit Delivery: Lead the delivery of high-quality audit services for clients in Banking, Insurance, and Asset Management. Design and implement tailored audit strategies that meet client needs and comply with regulatory frameworks such as IFRS, FRS 102, or other relevant accounting standards.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor audit teams, including trainees and junior staff. Oversee day-to-day activities and ensure that work is completed efficiently and to a high standard. Provide guidance and constructive feedback to help team members develop their skills.
  • Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong, lasting relationships with clients in the Banking, Insurance, or Asset Management sectors. Proactively communicate with clients to understand their needs, manage expectations, and provide exceptional service.
  • Audit Planning and Execution: Take ownership of audit assignments from planning through to completion. Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Identify and address potential issues and provide practical solutions to clients.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all audits are conducted in compliance with relevant accounting frameworks and regulatory standards. Keep up to date with technical developments in financial services and share knowledge with the team.
  • Efficiency and Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of audit processes. Provide recommendations for enhancing audit procedures and add value to clients through insights and advice.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across teams and service lines to deliver integrated services to clients and contribute to firm-wide initiatives.

What We Are Looking For

  • ACA/ACCA (or equivalent) qualified with a minimum of 4 years post-qualified experience.
  • A strong background in audit, with at least 4 years post-qualified experience in one of the following areas:
    • Banking
    • Insurance
    • Asset Management
  • Proven experience in leading audits or significant audit areas, demonstrating strong technical knowledge.
  • Solid understanding of financial services regulatory environments and accounting frameworks (IFRS, FRS 102, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proactive and committed to providing high-quality client service, with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to lead teams, manage junior staff, and contribute to a collaborative working environment.
  • Previous experience in a Big 4 or Top 10 firm is advantageous, but not essential.
