Assistant Bar Manager - Connemara Coast

About The Role

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a bar leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of spirits, cocktails, wines, and Irish whiskey.
  • Passion for Irish ingredients and local sourcing.
  • Solid understanding of bar food operations.
  • Ability to manage costs, stock, and team performance.
  • Calm under pressure with a sharp eye for detail.
  • A natural leader who motivates and develops others
Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work with the Management Team to ensure the smooth running of the Bars on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensure the efficient running of all areas whilst on duty.
  • Assist the Bar Manager with developing the team to achieve their goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the smooth running of the busy Hotel Bar & all associated bars and assist the Bar Manager with the running of the bars.
  • Maintain exceptionally high standards and design and implement SOPs to promote continuous improvement.
  • Train all employees within this area and direct and supervise staff to meet standards and objectives, while motivating employees and ensuring excellent customer service and morale.
  • Delegate duties to maximize resources; set and monitor quality and service standards communicating company policies.
  • Organise and adjust staff rotas and schedules in line with resources and labour regulations.
  • Resolve customer complaints promptly.
  • Manage accurate cash-up procedures and ensure necessary paperwork is complete.
  • Liaise with suppliers and sales representatives; ensure deliveries are checked in and documentation is correct.
  • Set, monitor and control the bar budget; ensure stock is rotated and stored to reduce waste.
  • Assist with ordering and management of stock levels and stock takes; implement, control and review all procedures relating to stock control, cash handling, purchasing and waste disposal relevant to the bar.
  • Be willing to work evenings, weekends and public holidays and be on site and responsible for areas during busy periods.
  • Attend department meetings and hold regular bar meetings with staff to ensure successful communication.
  • Maintain open and accurate communication with the management team.
  • Ensure high levels of quality control, hygiene standards and health & safety within your area of responsibility.
Health & Safety
  • Fulfil obligations under Health & Safety at Work Act 1989 and any revisions or additional legislation.
  • Take reasonable care for health and safety of yourself, other employees, guests and others on the premises.
  • Keep work areas tidy and safe and report hazards, losses, or damage.
  • Be aware of trained first-aid personnel and location of first aid box.
  • Observe all safety rules and procedures, including those in the Health & Safety Statement.
  • Carry out and promote fire and accident/other safety drills as directed by the hotel safety officer.
  • Participate in all Health and Safety training scheduled for you and your team.
  • Inform Management immediately if you are involved in any accident or witness an incident.
