Job summary

Smartedge is seeking an experienced Integration Solution Architect to define and govern integration solutions across APIs, microservices, event-driven services, batch interfaces, and secure file-transfer mechanisms.

The role requires coordinating architecture across customer channels, operational platforms, core banking systems, and legacy interfaces, with emphasis on governance, security, and observability. Remote options in Dublin, Ireland are available for this senior position.

Qualifications

• Strong integration and solution architecture experience.
• Demonstrable experience across APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture, batch integration and secure file transfer.
• Solid understanding of synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns.
• Experience designing integrations between modern cloud services and legacy systems.
• Knowledge of API management, API security, versioning, throttling, and lifecycle governance.
• Understanding of data integrity, idempotency, ordering, retries, and error handling.
• Ability to produce integration architecture artefacts and coordinate across multiple delivery teams.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end integration architecture for transformation initiatives.
• Design and sequence integration flows across multiple systems and teams.
• Define API contracts, interface specs, event schemas, and service interactions.
• Design secure integration between on-premises, cloud, and third-party systems.
• Establish observability including tracing, correlation IDs, monitoring and alerting.
• Produce interface inventories, diagrams, and system-interaction models.
• Identify dependencies, sequencing, and risks related to interfaces.

The Integration Solution Architect will define and govern integration solutions across APIs, microservices, message queues, event-driven services, batch interfaces, and secure file-transfer mechanisms.

The role will coordinate integration architecture across customer channels, operational platforms, core banking systems ,The ideal candidate will have led integration architecture for a major banking transformation involving APIs, messaging, event-driven processing, batch flows, file transfers, cloud platforms, and multiple legacy interfaces.

Mandatory Skills and Experience

• Strong integration and solution architecture experience.

• Identify integration dependencies, delivery sequencing requirements, and interface-related risks.
• Present integration designs to architecture governance forums.

Experience/Background

• 7/8 years+ strong solution design experience
• Experience working across customer channels, operational platforms, core systems and enterprise data services
• Have strong integration architecture experience across APIs, microservices, MQ and file-based integrations
• Experience designing solutions spanning both legacy estate and modern cloud-based platforms
• Knowledge of Corporate & Retail FX products would be useful
• Knowledge of Capital Markets business would be useful
