Job summary

Early Childhood Ireland is seeking a dedicated team member to support a Montessori classroom within Páistí le Chéile, Dublin 5. You will provide tailored 1:1 or small-group assistance to children with additional needs, helping them participate fully and flourish with peers.

The role requires patience, empathy, and a collaborative approach. Garda Vetting and a valid Children First certificate are mandatory. Experience with preschool-aged children is essential.

Qualifications

• QQI Level 5 in Early Childhood Care and Education or recognized equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 or small-group support to children with additional needs.
• Foster safe, trusting connections with children who find classrooms overwhelming.
• Assist the lead teacher in adapting Montessori materials using AIM, Aistear and Síolta frameworks.
• Maintain discreet observations of milestones and progress.
• Maintain confidential communication with parents and management.

Job description

Location: Páistí le Chéile, Collins Avenue, Dublin 5

Contract: 1-Year Fixed-Term (Term-time, Mon–Fri, matching ECCE hours)

Reports To: Siobhan Fay (Service Owner / Manager)

Job Purpose

To work within our Montessori classroom under the Access and Inclusion Model (AIM). You will provide tailored support to ensure a child with additional needs can fully participate, build trusting relationships, and flourish alongside their peers.

Key Responsibilities

• Inclusive Support: Deliver 1:1 or small-group support to help children with additional developmental, social, or communication needs integrate safely into the daily routine.
• Relationship Building: Foster safe, deep, trusting connections with children who find classroom environments overwhelming, helping them relax and communicate.
• Curriculum Aid: Assist the lead teacher in adapting Montessori materials and play-based experiences using Aistear and Síolta frameworks.
• Observation: Maintain discrete observations tracking the child’s milestones and progress.
• Partnership: Keep warm, professional, and confidential communication with parents and management.

Requirements

• Qualifications: Minimum QQI Level 5 in Early Childhood Care and Education (or recognized equivalent).
• Experience: Experience working with preschool children. Experience with communication delays or additional needs is a major advantage.
• Attributes: Exceptional patience, empathy, and a gentle, collaborative approach.
• Compliance: Must pass Garda Vetting and hold a valid Children First certificate.
