Job summary

Cadence Design Systems in Cork, Ireland, is seeking a Software Engineer II to join the Stratus HLS AI/LLM Systems team. You will write production-quality C++ and Python, develop AI-powered tools, and help engineers leverage Stratus HLS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS/EE with 1–2+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong C++ programming with memory management and performance awareness.
• Proficiency in Python for data processing and ML workflows.
• Experience with LLM APIs or AI agent frameworks.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms and software design principles.
• Ability to translate specifications into structured tasks with clear interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Implement AI agent features using LLMs in Stratus HLS.
• Build and test agent pipelines connecting Stratus tools and APIs.
• Apply prompt engineering and RAG techniques to improve responses.
• Author and maintain Skills including slash commands for AI coding agents.
• Design multi-step agentic flows with tool calls and context retrieval.
• Evaluate LLM models and prototype in HLS workflows.
• Write, review and maintain clean C++ code in Stratus.
• Develop VS Code extension components in TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Write unit and integration tests and pass code through regression.
• Participate in code reviews and design reviews.
