Job summary
EY in Ireland is seeking a Senior Manager Data Architect to lead data modelling, governance and integration across client engagements. You will shape data architecture strategies, mentor consultants and drive data-centric transformations in collaboration with business stakeholders.
You’ll work within the Data Analytics & AI team across industries, building trusted relationships and delivering first-class outcomes on high-profile projects in a globally connected practice.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of experience in data analysis and strategy with impactful storytelling from complex datasets.
- At least 2 years of consulting experience providing strategic guidance and hands-on implementation.
- Strong expertise in data modelling, database design, and SQL across multiple platforms.
- Experience in data governance, ETL, data integration and data warehouse design.
- Excellent client-facing skills and ability to lead and mentor a team of consultants.
Responsibilities
- Lead diverse teams using different Data and Analytics technologies.
- Adapt leadership style to fit team and client needs, anticipate risks and issues.
- Coach junior members, share best practices and drive professional growth.
- Lead design and implementation of data artefacts: modelling, integration, storage and governance.
- Hands-on data modelling to create Enterprise Data Models.
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers and stakeholders to translate requirements.
- Assess existing architectures and recommend remediation plans for data management.
- Develop data migration strategies and oversee migration activities with minimal disruption.
- Advise clients on data architecture, governance, quality and security.
- Stay current with trends and provide thought leadership to EY offerings.

As part of our Data Analytics and AI team, the Data Architect role is pivotal in enabling our clients to derive significant value from their information assets. Through collaboration and domain expertise, our team embeds innovative data analytics solutions into existing business areas, transforming data into strategic assets. We are looking for a Data Architect who is passionate about leveraging data to solve complex problems and drive business outcomes.
You will play a key role in driving growth by developing new and existing client relationships and delivering first-class customer experience on high-profile engagements.
The Data Analytics and AI team serve as trusted advisors, both practical and innovative, to embed innovative data analytics solutions into existing business areas and transforming data into strategic assets.

As a senior manager, the opportunity to assess and improve our clients’ reporting policies and corporate governance processes will impact these ever-challenging areas during transformational and regulatory changes.
- Leading diverse teams with varying skillsets, who use different Data and Analytics technologies.
- Adapting your leadership style to fit team, client, and cultural needs, they will look to you to anticipate and identify risks and examine issues as appropriate.
- As an influential member of the team, you’ll create a positive learning culture and will coach and counsel junior members of the team sharing best practices, industry trends and technical knowledge to foster professional growth and development.
- Lead the design and implementation of data artefacts, including data modelling, data integration, data storage, and data governance based on industry best practices and client-specific requirements.
- Hands-on experience on data modelling techniques to create Enterprise Data Models
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders, to translate business requirements into technical specifications and architectural designs.
- Conduct assessment of existing data architectures, identify areas of improvement, and recommend remediation plans to optimise data management process and systems.
- Develop data migration strategies and oversee the execution of data migration activities, ensuring data integrity and minimal disruption to client operations.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering expert insights and recommendations on data architecture, data governance, data quality and data security matters.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, trends, and industry standards in data architecture and management, and provide thought leadership to drive innovation and enhance our consulting offerings.
- Third level qualification in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline, or relevant experience related to the position.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in data analysis and strategy, with a proven track record of creating impactful visual stories from complex datasets.
- At least 2 years of consulting experience providing strategic guidance and hands‑on implementation while building trusted advisor relationships.
- Strong expertise in data modelling, database design, and SQL, with experience in multiple database platforms.
- Extensive knowledge of data integration techniques, ETL processes, and data warehouse design.
- Experience in designing and implementing data governance frameworks and practices.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to understand complex business requirements and design innovative data solutions.
- Excellent client‑facing skills, with the ability to build rapport, communicate effectively, and manage relationships with clients at various levels of the organization.
- Strong leadership abilities, with the capacity to lead and mentor a team of consultants and drive successful project outcomes.
- The ability to demonstrate keeping pace with industry trends and apply best practices to data strategy and operations.
- Familiarity with a wide range of database technologies, both traditional and modern, including relational databases, NoSQL databases, and cloud-based data platforms.
- Professional certifications in NoSQL databases is a plus.
