Job summary

Mastercard Foundry R&D seeks a Senior Software Engineer to advance Agentic AI, building tooling and services for AI-enabled products and developer workflows. You’ll work hands-on on scalable systems, shaping patterns and integration methods for Mastercard teams.

The role emphasizes practical AI system design, strong software fundamentals, and a product mindset to deliver usable, reliable AI-powered capabilities across Mastercard’s platforms.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Generative AI, LLMs, or agentic patterns.
• Experience with modern AI frameworks and SDKs for agent orchestration.
• Strong understanding of orchestration, tool-calling, and AI system design trade-offs.
• Experience building scalable, production-grade software.
• Experience with React and Next.js; backend in Java or Python.
• Experience with developer tooling, CI/CD, and containerized apps.

Overview

Mastercard Foundry R&D is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Agentic AI Engineering team.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who is deeply engaged in applying Generative and Agentic AI to real products, platforms, and developer workflows. You will help build the tooling, services, and reusable patterns that enable teams across Mastercard to experiment, validate, and scale AI-enabled solutions.

We are looking for someone with strong engineering fundamentals, a product-building mindset, and a practical understanding of the patterns and trade-offs behind modern AI systems.

Responsibilites

• Build software, tooling, and platform capabilities that support Mastercard’s Agentic AI strategy
• Design and implement AI-enabled applications, workflows, and developer-facing capabilities
• Develop reusable services, patterns, and integrations for AI and agentic systems
• Evaluate models, frameworks, and tools across quality, cost, latency, reliability, and maintainability

Experience

• Hands-on experience building applications or systems using Generative AI, LLMs, or agentic patterns
• Experience with one or more modern AI frameworks and SDKs for agent orchestration, AI application development, or coding-agent workflows (for example LangGraph, OpenAI Agents SDK, Vercel AI SDK, or Codex SDK)
• Strong understanding of orchestration, tool-calling, context management, and AI system design trade-offs
• Strong software engineering experience building scalable, maintainable production systems
• Experience with React and/or Next.js
• Strong backend engineering skills in Java and/or Python
• Experience with developer tooling, automation, CLI-based workflows, and CI/CD
• Familiarity with containers, cloud-native development, and service integration patterns
• Experience building products, prototypes, and/or internal platforms with a focus on usability and adoption
