Activities Co-Ordinator Part time
Location: The Residence, Portloaise Nursing Home
Pay: From €13.50 an hour

Purpose of Position:
To enhance the quality of the residents' well-being by providing stimulating pastimes and facilitating residents to reach their artistic and creative potential in an encouraging and supportive environment.

Reports To: Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing or Clinical Nurse Manager

Roster: This is a part-time role with flexible hours, including some late evening shifts and weekend work on a rotational basis.

Responsibilities:

• To identify the social activity preferences of each resident.
• To maintain individual social activity plans for each resident.
• To plan the daily social activity programme and facilitate external providers to ensure optimum value for the residents.
• To motivate care staff to be actively involved in the delivery of the social activity programme.
• To communicate effectively with the staff nurse regarding the well-being of residents participating in social activities.
• To develop a good rapport with the relatives/friends of the residents where appropriate.
• To ensure all staff are aware of planned activities.
• To manage volunteers in a professional manner.
• To keep abreast of new developments in care of older persons' social activity programmes.
• To liaise with the Director of Nursing in organizing outings throughout the year.
• To contribute to the management meeting when requested.
• To effectively manage the allocated social activity budget.
• To establish links with and encourage involvement of the local community.
• To act as an ambassador for the Nursing Home at all times.
