Job Title: Accounting Technician

Location: Rathangan, Co. Kildare

Contract Type: Full-time / Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Technician with proven experience using Sage accounting software to join our finance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting day-to-day finance operations, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process sales and purchase invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all entries are complete and correct.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and manage cash flow reporting.
  • Process supplier payments and employee expenses.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory filings.
  • Assist in the preparation of management accounts and financial reports.
  • Support year-end audit preparation and liaise with external auditors when required.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the finance team as needed.
Key Requirements
  • Proven experience using Sage 50 / Sage 200 / Sage Online in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with payroll processing.
  • Knowledge of other accounting systems or ERP software.
  • Familiarity with budgeting and forecasting.
