Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Accountant based in Ireland.

As an Accountant, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting accounting operations across an international group of regulated entities. You will take ownership of the Accounts Payable function while contributing to the full accounting cycle, including month-end closing, reconciliations, intercompany transactions, tax compliance, and audit preparation. Working within a lean, international finance team, you will collaborate with external accounting firms and tax advisors across multiple jurisdictions. You will help strengthen financial controls, improve reporting accuracy, and streamline accounting processes in a dynamic digital asset environment. This position offers broad responsibilities, hands‑on involvement, and the opportunity to contribute ideas that improve how the finance function operates. It is an excellent opportunity for a detail‑oriented accounting professional who enjoys autonomy, technical challenges, and working at the intersection of traditional finance and cryptocurrency.

Accountabilities
  • Accounts Payable management: Own the end‑to‑end supplier payment process, including invoice review, coding, approval workflows through tools such as ApprovalMax and Xero, payment preparation, supplier statement reconciliations, and vendor master data maintenance.
  • General ledger accounting: Prepare and manage journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and other accounting adjustments to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Financial closing: Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities across group entities, working closely with external accounting firms to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Reconciliations and account analysis: Perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure account balances are accurate, complete, and properly supported.
  • Intercompany accounting: Manage monthly intercompany reconciliations, recharges, and settlements across multiple entities, ensuring consistency and resolving outstanding differences.
  • Tax and VAT compliance: Support VAT reporting and other tax compliance activities across jurisdictions, including VAT returns, reverse‑charge transactions, and withholding taxes, in collaboration with external tax advisors.
  • Audit preparation: Prepare supporting documentation and audit files, coordinate information requests, and assist with interim and annual external audits.
  • Internal controls and process improvement: Identify opportunities to strengthen financial controls, improve accounting workflows, and increase the efficiency and reliability of financial operations.
  • Cross‑functional accounting support: Contribute across the full accounting cycle, balancing routine processing with complex technical accounting tasks while maintaining high standards of accuracy and consistency.
  • International collaboration: Work effectively with external service providers and colleagues across jurisdictions to ensure accounting practices remain aligned with applicable requirements and reporting deadlines.
Requirements
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 5 years of accounting experience, ideally with an initial background in Big Four audit or accounting outsourcing.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including general ledger accounting, financial closing, reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and the full accounting cycle.
  • Experience working with multi‑entity organizations, intercompany accounting, and preferably group consolidation.
  • Hands‑on Accounts Payable experience, including invoice processing, payment preparation, supplier reconciliations, and approval workflows.
  • Working knowledge of VAT and corporate tax compliance, with international or cross‑border VAT experience considered an advantage.
  • Experience preparing for and supporting external audits, including compiling documentation and responding to auditor requests.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and strong Excel skills; familiarity with Xero and ApprovalMax is an advantage.
  • The ability to manage both routine accounting operations and complex technical tasks independently, accurately, and consistently.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies, identify risks, and recommend process improvements.
  • A proactive, detail‑oriented, and organized working style, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a remote, international team. French language skills are a plus.
  • An interest in cryptocurrency, digital assets, or crypto accounting is an advantage.
  • The ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative, international finance environment.
Benefits
  • Annual performance bonus: BORG token bonus to reward contributions to the organization.
  • Remote and flexible working: Genuine flexibility to work remotely and organize your schedule effectively.
  • Generous annual leave: 25 days of annual leave, in addition to local public holidays.
  • Learning and development: Dedicated budget to support professional growth, technical training, and continuous learning.
  • Equipment and home office support: A MacBook and a home office budget to help you work effectively.

  • Premium account: Access to a SwissBorg Premium account and associated platform benefits.
  • Long‑term incentives: VSOP share options offering potential participation in the organization's long‑term value creation.
