Spencer Recruitment is partnering with a leading independent communications consultancy to recruit a Corporate PR Account Director. This is a senior leadership opportunity advising major Irish and international organisations across corporate reputation, strategic communications, media relations and crisis management.

The Account Director will provide senior counsel, lead important client relationships, oversee multidisciplinary account teams and contribute to the consultancy's commercial growth.

Qualifications

  • Substantial experience in corporate communications or reputation management.
  • Proven ability to lead senior client accounts or in-house teams.
  • Experience advising chief executives and leadership teams.
  • Deep knowledge of the Irish business and media environment.
  • Strong crisis and issues-management judgment.
  • Excellent writing, presentation and advisory skills.
  • Record of budget and commercial performance management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a portfolio of major corporate communications and reputation-management accounts.
  • Act as a trusted adviser to chief executives and senior teams.
  • Provide strategic counsel on complex business and reputational issues.
  • Develop understanding of clients’ commercial objectives and stakeholder environments.
  • Anticipate risks and prepare clients for communications challenges.
  • Maintain and strengthen long-term client relationships.
  • Develop integrated corporate communications and reputation strategies.
  • Advise on corporate positioning, executive profiling and thought leadership.
  • Lead communications around major announcements and sensitive issues.
  • Counsel clients during crises and periods of intense scrutiny.
  • Oversee communications relating to transactions or significant developments.
  • Ensure client programmes deliver measurable outcomes and value.
  • Lead proposals, tenders and new-business pitches.
  • Contribute to growth strategy and market positioning.
  • Work across corporate communications, public affairs, financial PR, digital, ESG and creative disciplines.

This is a senior leadership opportunity within an established consultancy advising major Irish and international organisations across corporate reputation, strategic communications, media relations, crisis management and complex business issues.

The Account Director will provide senior counsel, lead important client relationships, oversee multidisciplinary account teams and contribute to the commercial growth of the consultancy.

Key responsibilities
Senior client counsel
  • Lead a portfolio of major corporate communications and reputation-management accounts.
  • Act as a trusted adviser to chief executives, leadership teams and senior communications professionals.
  • Provide strategic counsel on complex business, reputational and communications matters.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of clients’ commercial objectives and stakeholder environments.
  • Anticipate emerging risks and prepare clients for communications challenges.
  • Maintain and strengthen long-term client relationships.
Corporate reputation and strategy
  • Develop integrated corporate communications and reputation strategies.
  • Advise on corporate positioning, executive profiling, stakeholder engagement and thought leadership.
  • Lead communications around major announcements, organisational change and sensitive issues.
  • Counsel clients during crises and periods of intense public or media scrutiny.
  • Oversee communications relating to transactions, financial reporting or significant corporate developments.
  • Ensure client programmes deliver measurable outcomes and commercial value.
Media and stakeholder engagement
  • Provide senior-level media relations advice.
  • Maintain relationships with leading journalists, editors and influential stakeholders.
  • Advise clients on media engagement, key messages and interview preparation.
  • Oversee press-office functions, media campaigns and executive communications.
  • Lead the development of complex communications materials and senior presentations.
Leadership and commercial responsibility
  • Lead and develop multidisciplinary account teams.
  • Mentor colleagues and support their professional progression.
  • Maintain consistently high standards of strategy, writing and client service.
  • Oversee account budgets, profitability, resource allocation and commercial performance.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing accounts and develop new services.
  • Lead proposals, tenders and new-business pitches.
  • Contribute to the consultancy’s growth strategy and market positioning.
  • Work across corporate communications, public affairs, financial PR, digital, ESG and creative disciplines.
Experience and capabilities

Candidates should have:

  • Substantial experience in corporate communications, strategic PR or reputation management.
  • A strong track record of leading complex client accounts or senior in-house communications functions.
  • Experience advising chief executives and leadership teams.
  • Deep knowledge of the Irish business, media and stakeholder environment.
  • Strong crisis, issues-management and reputational judgement.
  • Exceptional writing, presentation and senior advisory skills.
  • Demonstrable experience leading and developing teams.
  • Experience managing budgets, resources, account profitability and commercial performance.
  • A successful track record in account growth, proposals and new-business pitches.
  • The ability to remain calm, responsive and solutions-focused when managing sensitive situations.

Experience in financial communications, investor relations, transactions, public affairs or regulated sectors would be desirable but not necessary.
