Job description

Access Administration Automation Associate

Role Summary

The Access Administration Automation Associate will support the wider Identity and Access Management (IAM) function in documenting, analysing and improving access administration processes. This is an entry-level role suitable for a recent graduate or someone at the start of their career with an interest in technology, cyber security, process improvement and automation. The role will work closely with the Access Administration Process Automation Engineer and wider Access Administration teams to understand existing manual activities, gather information, support process documentation and help identify opportunities to improve or automate repetitive tasks. The successful candidate is not expected to have prior IAM or automation experience. They should be curious, organised, willing to learn and comfortable working with people, data and structured processes. As part of a developing role within the wider IAM function, the successful candidate may also be asked to support related activities outside the core responsibilities of this position, where these provide learning opportunities or help deliver team priorities.

Key Responsibilities
Process Documentation and Analysis
  • Support the documentation of current-state access administration processes.
  • Capture process steps, inputs, outputs, hand-offs, controls and exceptions.
  • Help identify where manual effort, duplication or inconsistency exists.
  • Maintain clear and accurate process notes, working documents and supporting materials.
  • Assist with comparing documented processes against actual operational practice.
Access Administration Support
  • Work with Access Administration teams to understand how access requests are received, reviewed, fulfilled and evidenced.
  • Support analysis of provisioning and de‑provisioning activities across applications.
  • Assist with gathering information for Joiner, Mover and Leaver related activities.
  • Help identify common access administration activities that may be suitable for standardisation or automation.
  • Support routine tracking, reporting and follow‑up activities where required.
Automation Discovery Support
  • Work with the Access Administration Process Automation Engineer to gather information needed to assess automation opportunities.
  • Help document repetitive tasks, decision points and manual checks.
  • Support testing of simple automation solutions by following test steps and recording outcomes.
  • Capture issues, exceptions or improvement ideas identified during automation discovery or testing.
  • Contribute to maintaining automation backlogs or opportunity lists.
Data and Evidence Management
  • Use tools to review, organise and compare information.
  • Support the collection and organisation of evidence for access administration and audit activities.
  • Help ensure documentation is complete, accurate and easy to follow.
  • Assist with maintaining trackers, reports or logs used by the team.
  • Escalate gaps, inconsistencies or unclear information to more experienced team members.
Collaboration and Learning
  • Work closely with IAM, Access Administration, application and operational teams.
  • Ask questions to understand existing processes, risks and controls.
  • Participate in team discussions, workshops and process review sessions.
  • Build knowledge of IAM, access governance, automation and operational control concepts.
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks while seeking guidance where needed.

  • Ability to follow structured processes and document information clearly.
  • Comfortable working with data, documents and operational teams.
Technical Skills
  • Basic data handling skills, for example using Excel to review, organise or compare information.
  • Ability or willingness to learn how to map and describe business processes.
  • Interest in workflow automation, operational improvement or technology‑enabled change.
  • Awareness of cyber security, access control or IT service management concepts would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Exposure to tools such as ServiceNow, SharePoint, Excel, Power Automate, UiPath, SailPoint or Microsoft Entra would be advantageous but is not required.
