Job summary

Aceon Games is seeking a Writer-Director to develop character-driven, long-form content for an esports project in Jakarta. You will research players, teams, competitions, and communities, then craft stories into executable video productions with writing, interviewing, scripting and on-site direction.

You will understand both long-form and short-form formats and collaborate with cinematographers and editors to shape compelling narratives for multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

• Research players, teams and communities to uncover vivid characters and storylines.
• Create long-form concepts: player docs, team profiles, competition journeys, BTS features.
• Draft treatments, scripts, interview guides, voiceover texts and shooting briefs.
• Lead in-depth interviews to draw authentic personal stories from talents.
• Turn concepts into feasible production plans with footage, locations and archives.
• Provide on-set direction and collaborate with cinematographers for narrative visuals.
• Cooperate with editors on story structure, pacing and final cut.
• Review rough cuts and give feedback on storyline and rhythm.
• Extract short video clips for TikTok/Reels/Shorts from long-form footage.
• Adjust production plans based on matches, talent availability and platform needs.

Job description

We are looking for a Writer-Director to develop character-driven, long-form content for an esports project.

This role is responsible for discovering meaningful stories from players, teams, competitions, and gaming communities, then developing those stories into clear and executable video productions through research, writing, interviewing, scripting, and on-site direction. The candidate is expected to understand both long-form and short-form platforms.

A strong esports background is not required.

Responsibilities

• Research players, teams and communities to dig out vivid characters, conflicts and storylines
• Create long-form concepts: player docs, team profiles, competition journeys, BTS and human-interest features
• Draft treatments, scripts, interview guides, voiceover texts and shooting briefs
• Design and lead in-depth interviews to draw authentic personal stories from talents
• Turn creative concepts into feasible production plans, list required footage, locations and archive resources
• Deliver on-set creative direction and collaborate with cinematographers for narrative-driven visuals
• Cooperate with editors on story structure, pacing, emotion and final cut
• Review rough cuts and give targeted feedback on storyline, character and rhythm
• Extract short-video clips for TikTok/Reels/Shorts from long-form footage
• Adjust production plans flexibly based on matches, talent availability and platform demands
