Job description

Konservasi Indonesia (KI) is seeking a qualified and motivated individual as West Java Program Manager to implement a range of its current and future portfolios in the Sundaland Program. Our program in West Java is working with local governments, NGOs, universities and communities to protect critical natural capital, reduce emissions from land use change while supporting local economy. KI works with government and local stakeholders to ensure the long-term sustainability of project activities through improved governance, enhance local capacities and strengthen regulations.

West Java Program Manager will be responsible for program implementation, actively engage with stakeholders, manage team and collaborate with KI staffs to ensure excellence project delivery towards the target and impact of the program. This is a senior level position that has a proven record of project and people management experience, strategic thinking, planning, budgeting, and project design and development. This position will report directly to Sundaland Program Director.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead West Java program

  • Lead West Java program interventions including biodiversity conservation, restoration, forest and land use plan management and its supporting policies
  • Identify and prioritize strategic activities that contributed to achieve conservation strategies and outcomes successfully
  • Revisit the project workplan and conduct regular monitoring to the field to track progress and understand challenges in the field.
  • Identify gaps and capacity needs for staff and define strategy to fill the gaps.
  • Conduct quarterly meetings with operational team to plan for budget projection and procurements needed for implementation
  • Ensure that operational needs of the activities are prepared for timely and high quality of activity delivery

Lead internal and external coordination with partners in the field

  • Build connections within technical staff in the ecoregion, Jakarta, and CI for specific areas to support improved Sundaland strategic intervention
  • Lead collaboration with partner organizations and consultants to work together to achieve targets of Sundaland program in West Java
  • Represent KI in meetings or events and conduct regular meetings with respective government offices to update progress and ensure alignment with government priorities
  • Serve as a recognized technical resource and share technical best practices within and outside KI
  • Build strong relationships and collaborations with other stakeholders in the field, including government, private sectors, universities, and NGOs

Support development of KI program strategy and fundraising

  • Identify funding opportunities and lead the development of concept notes and proposals for program fundraising by working together with development staff and program team.
  • Lead the implementation of KI West Java program strategy, revisit the strategy as needed and ensure the alignment with government priorities and local conditions while initiating approaches for scaling up the impacts with speed.
  • Lead the development of new proposals and concepts and proactively propose new ideas based on current field conditions and long-term vision of the landscapes for achieving impact at scale and speed.
  • Participating in relevant meetings conducted by CI to strengthen program strategy and interventions. strategy sustainable landscapes, sustainable production and nature climate solution and innovative finances

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • A degree in biology conservation, forestry, agriculture and natural resource management-related science.
  • Minimum 10 years of full-time work experience in relevant field, with program implementation and project management experience.
  • Experience in conservation areas management, restoration, agroforestry, water replenishment and community and economic development, This includes grant management (e.g. due diligence, financial monitoring) and managing multi-donor agency.
  • Ability to deftly manage projects with strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills and balance attention to detail with big-picture thinking.
  • Ability to manage professional relationships and effective communication
  • Highly organized and systematic with strong time management skills
  • Fluent in English (speaking and writing)
  • Coordination skills and ability to planning and managing simultaneous and interdisciplinary tasks.
  • Excellent leadership skill, and ability to work with a variety of skilled technical staffs, NGOs, urban and rural communities, and central, province and district government representatives.
  • Strong networking and relationship with donors and other stakeholders.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Requires communication, consultation, coordination, and meeting with multi-stakeholders and partners.
  • Requires travel to KI’s field site and offices.
