Job description

The Upper School comprises the Middle and High School Learning Neighborhoods within the broader Green School Bali community. With approximately 250 children across grades 6 to 12, our teaching teams deliver learning programs that are purposeful, inspiring and engaging. We seek a passionate Upper School Learning Support Mentor to engage our students in creative, purposeful and holistic learning experiences.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Learning Support Mentor who will be responsible for providing specialized assistance to a small cohort of students in developing essential life skills, executive functioning, academic support, and training with power tools. The ideal candidate will also excel in documenting student progress and effectively communicating with families. The position requires the ability to work comfortably in a rugged environment, demonstrating adaptability and resilience in challenging settings.

AS A LEARNING SUPPORT MENTOR, ARE YOU?

Responsibilities

  1. Help design and implement individualized learning plans for students to develop life skills, executive functioning, and academics. You will have a cohort of 5-7 students who you are fully focused on their personal learning journeys.
  2. Provide direct instruction and support in areas such as time management, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making to enhance students' executive functioning.
  3. Integrate hands-on experiences and practical learning opportunities into the curriculum to teach students how to safely and effectively use power tools for guided projects.
  4. Collaborate with the upper school learning support teacher, classroom teachers, school counselors, and other support staff to ensure a holistic approach to student learning and development.
  5. Maintain comprehensive documentation of student progress, including regular assessments, anecdotal records, and individualized goal tracking, to inform instructional practices and communicate progress to families.
  6. Communicate regularly with families to provide updates on student achievements, challenges, and strategies for support, fostering a collaborative partnership in the learning process.
  7. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in the field of special education, vocational training, and executive functioning support.
  8. Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment, including the ability to work comfortably in a rugged environment and adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.

Other Requirements

  1. Indonesian
  2. Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology or a related field.
  3. Excellent in English.
  4. Valid teaching certification in Special Education or relevant area of expertise.
  5. Proven experience in working with students with diverse learning needs, including ADHD, dyslexia, and studying English as an additional language.
  6. Familiarity with power tools, with experience in teaching safe and effective usage of tools to students.
  7. Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
  8. Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and community partners.
  9. Flexibility and adaptability to work in a rugged environment, demonstrating resilience and problem-solving skills in challenging situations.
