The position of Underground Mine Manager requires an experienced professional to oversee and coordinate all underground mining operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. Description

As an Underground Mine Manager, your main responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing all underground mining operations to ensure safety, productivity, and compliance with regulations.
• Developing and implementing operational plans that align with production targets.
• Monitoring equipment and resource usage to optimise efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Leading and mentoring a team of mining professionals to achieve operational goals.
• Coordinating with other departments to ensure seamless integration of mining activities.
• Ensuring adherence to environmental and safety standards in all mining processes.
• Preparing and managing budgets for underground operations.
• Providing regular reports and updates to senior management on operational performance.

Profile

A successful Underground Mine Manager should have:

• Manages underground operational projects and studies including infrastructure maintenance, exploration support, integration with surface operations, safety improvement, and engineering standardization.
• Ensures all underground operations align with internal risk management systems and comply with government mining regulations and standards.
• Monitors environmental impacts of underground mining and implements mitigation strategies to reduce negative effects.
• Oversees financial planning and monitors project expenditures to ensure alignment with budget forecasts.
• Leads and develops cross-functional teams, promotes safe behaviors, integrity, and continuous improvement aligned with company values.
• Implements and monitors underground safety systems, drives safety culture, ensures compliance with ISO standards, and achieves safety targets through proactive leadership.
• Oversees the transition from mine study to development and operation, while optimizing processes and ensuring best practices are implemented.
• Utilizes software dashboards and digital tools (e.g., CRM-CCV) for monitoring operations, safety risk assessments, and improving efficiency through automation.
• Focuses on talent development, particularly for local employees, preparing them for future mining challenges and succession in key roles.
• Maintains strong coordination with departments such as Exploration, Construction, Safety, Environment, and Supply Chain to ensure integrated and effective underground operations.
