Job description

We are looking for a skilled and security-focused System Administrator to join our IT Infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have solid hands-on experience with FreeBSD and Amazon Linux, in-depth knowledge of networking, server optimization, and cybersecurity, and the ability to maintain and secure high-availability environments across cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage, maintain, and optimize FreeBSD and Amazon Linux server environments.
2. Optimize and secure Apache web server, Nginx performance and configuration.
3. Design and implement robust server security, including firewall rules, access controls, and intrusion prevention.
4. Prevent, detect, and respond to cybersecurity threats such as ransomware, brute force attacks, SQL injection, and other vulnerabilities.
5. Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot MySQL with replication (master-slave), indexing strategies, and performance tuning.
6. Set up and monitor system logs and alerts for early issue detection and response.
7. Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure on AWS, specifically:
8. CloudFront, S3, EC2, VPC, WAF, Security Gateway, Amazon SES, Certificate Manager, Load Balancer, ACLs, Snapshots, Images, IAM, AMI, Reserved Instances.
9. Ensure high uptime and resilience through high-availability configurations and disaster recovery planning.
10. Support the networking team in managing secure, scalable networks.
11. Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, changes, and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a System Administrator in a production environment.
• Strong expertise in FreeBSD and Amazon Linux system administration.
• Deep understanding of Apache, Nginx performance tuning and security hardening.
• Practical knowledge in handling cybersecurity threats, malware recovery, and system hardening.
• Hands-on experience with MySQL replication, performance monitoring, and database troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of log monitoring, system alerts, and event analysis tools.
• Solid experience managing infrastructure using AWS services listed above.
• Familiarity with networking, security protocols, VPNs, firewalls, and high-availability systems.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
