Purpose of the position:

Eramet Group aims to be recognized as a Responsible Mining company and a leader in responsible practices within the mining and metallurgy sector.

The role is based in Jakarta, with frequent travel to the Weda Bay Site.

The Sustainability Manager will develop and lead a team addressing sustainability issues that are top priorities for both the public and private sectors, as well as society. This role will support internal clients with strategic sustainability initiatives, ESG policy advisory, and integration of ESG into operations. The goal is to make a meaningful impact on the environment and society by designing and implementing solutions to global issues such as climate change and social inclusion, and helping the company manage transitions towards sustainability.

Ensuring all activities of Eramet Indonesia adhere to the ESG standards of the group:

The Sustainability Manager will contribute to and oversee the implementation of Eramet's sustainability strategy and programs. This involves working across the mining and plant operations, collaborating with corporate teams to deliver practical sustainability solutions that support business growth. Responsibilities include compliance, grievance management in Indonesia projects, and regional/global strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Monitor Indonesia regulations and international standards relevant to the role.

  • Lead the implementation of sustainability strategies, policies, and key ESG documentation in line with local and international standards.
  • Develop and operate systems for efficient, accurate, and impactful reporting and information sharing.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, including community investment partners, to align sustainability efforts with business goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders, external consultants, and committees to analyze sustainability performance and develop KPIs.
  • Facilitate sustainability training, audits, inspections, compliance reporting, and develop post-review action plans.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with Eramet's sustainability standards, especially procurement, responsible sourcing, and service providers.
  • Manage sustainability communications both internally and externally.
  • Create ongoing educational resources on sustainability issues.
  • Institutionalize sustainability through documentation and regular policy reviews with the Group.
  • Conduct benchmarking surveys to adopt or improve sustainable practices.
  • Lead project execution, engaging partners, consultants, and stakeholders to build trust and commitment.
  • Partner with Public Affairs and Communications to promote sustainability commitments across the Group and stakeholders.

About you:

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in ESG or sustainability roles.
  • Deep understanding of global ESG agendas, policies, standards (e.g., Equator Principles, IFC Standards, IRMA).
  • Knowledge of strategic and operational ESG issues.
  • Experience with ESG due diligence, especially in project financing under the Equator Principles.
  • Green finance experience (e.g., green bonds) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and management skills.
  • Multicultural work experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in English required.
  • Master's degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • Experience in developing sustainability processes and project or program management, including NGO collaborations.
