Role: Sustainability Consultant
Who We Are
Seven Clean Seas is an ocean-impact social enterprise dedicated to combating plastic pollution while fostering sustainable livelihoods. We build Ocean Impact Projects and empower communities to turn the tide on plastic pollution. We work with organisations to tackle upstream plastic consumption and to fund downstream plastic waste management through plastic credit mechanisms - an initiative that Seven Clean Seas is leading alongside a handful of other key market players.
We are looking for a Sustainability Consultant, who can help grow our consultancy and technical offeringand provide mentorship and support for our in-house team.
The Role:
As the Sustainability Consultant you will be instrumental in expanding Seven Clean Seas’ sustainability consultancy and technical services. You will provide leadership and mentorship to our in-house sustainability team and champion our mission across our client and partner ecosystem. This role is pivotal in bridging technical expertise with purpose-driven action to amplify our impact in the fight against plastic pollution.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of three consultants and analysts, holding bi-weekly team meetings and providing regular progress updates to senior leadership.
- Technical Oversight: Provide technical oversight and supervision for all client deliverables, ensuring high-quality, impactful outcomes.
- Business Development: Support business development efforts by contributing to proposal writing, client pitching, and the design of new service offerings.
- Client Engagement: Deliver high-quality engagement with clients and partners throughout project delivery, reporting, and advisory services, ensuring their sustainability goals are met with excellence.
- Industry Representation: Represent Seven Clean Seas in industry working groups focused on plastic credit markets and ESG in corporate plastic footprinting, positioning the organisation as a thought leader.
- Internal Advisory: Advise internal departments on core sustainability principles and support our communications team to ensure consistent, mission-aligned messaging.
- Training & Development: Train and upskill internal team members in sustainability methodologies and best practices, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
Requirements:
- Education: Masters orBachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Sustainability, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in sustainability or relevant industries, ideally including consultancy experience (preferably within a start-up or scale-up environment).
- Team Management: Proven experience in managing and mentoring technical teams.
- Technical Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong technical reasoning skills.
- Commercial Acumen: A strong commercial mindset with a passion for scalable impact and operational efficiency.
- Bonus Qualifications: Familiarity with sustainability frameworks and methodologies such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), the GHG Protocol, or CDP reporting.

- This role is an office based role in our Indonesian headquarters (Bali).
- A three-month probationary period applies.
