Job summary

Haskoning is building a new Supply Chain & Logistics Centre of Excellence in Jakarta, Indonesia. We seek a Supply Chain Modeling & Optimization Consultant to model optimization and simulation solutions for clients, integrating data, connecting systems, and delivering user-friendly analytics.

You will work on end-to-end projects, lead development and demos, and collaborate with a global team. The role mixes office and remote work with travel across APAC.

Qualifications

• Completed master’s degree in Operations Research, (Applied) Mathematics, Industrial Engineering or a related study.
• Demonstrated interest or experience in supply chain, logistics, or ICT.
• Experience or interest in optimization software (AIMMS) and simulation tools (Witness).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Fluent in English – excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Model optimization and simulation applications to solve client supply chain challenges.
• Collect and validate data, connect applications to core systems, and design intuitive interfaces.
• Lead or support development, testing, and deployment of new analytics applications.
• Participate in business development activities such as demos and client conversations.
• Travel to APAC client sites and occasionally to offices in Singapore and The Netherlands.

In 2022, we’ve joined forces with Districon, a leading supply chain analytics and logistics consultancy with 45 years’ experience developing strategies and solving issues for supply chain management and integrated logistics.

Our new joint team forms the Supply Chain & Logistics Centre of Excellence within Haskoning. We provide top-tier logistics & supply chain advisory as well as digital supply chain advanced analytics services on top of Haskoning's traditional engineering and consultancy domain knowledge. Supply chain is our DNA, engineering and analytics our key focus and interest. We believe that applying the right technology enables our clients to improve their supply chain processes and planning. And, as a consequence, improve their business: better results, build resilience and be sustainable.

What will you do

What is strategically the optimal supply network? What is tactically the optimal balance between demand, supply and capacity? What is the optimal order batching and picking sequence in a warehouse? What is the optimal production schedule in manufacturing environment? What is the optimal fleet utilization of an ocean, air, rail, or road carrier? And any other supply chain optimization challenge.

As a Supply Chain & Optimization Consultant you solve these challenges by modelling optimisation & simulation applications for our clients, that enable them to make data driven, scenario base, decisions. You apply your operations research skills and work together with the team to collect and validate the data, to connect the application with the core systems, to design a user interface, to train and support users.

• You participate in or lead the developments, testing and implementation of new applications, guide the project team and the client’s team.
• You participate in or lead the support and maintenance of the applications: updating applications, identifying and solving bugs, and continuously improving applications by developing new functionalities.
• You participate in or lead regular sprint meetings, connecting the business challenges with the solution requirements.

Next to the project work, you will also get responsibilities in business development. Think about setting up and giving demos, preparing material for conferences, and talking to potential clients. As we work project-based it is important for us to get new clients and keep on generating work.

We work a lot with the mathematical optimization platform AIMMS, simulation software WITNESS Horizon, and SQL, Python, and PowerBI.

Where you will work

This role is based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Candidates are required to have valid work permits for the place of work (no sponsorship). The role offers flexibility to work partly at home and partly in the office. Travel to client sites across APAC for project work is occasionally required.

What you bring

A strong interest for complex puzzles in the supply chain domain. You have an affinity with programming and connecting data sets. You are critical, accurate and show courage, you like to create your own opportunities.

Furthermore, as Supply Chain Modeling & Optimization Consultant you are:

• Analytically strong: capable of understanding and explaining complex processes.
• Good at mathematics: you can easily draw the right conclusions from a large amount of data.
• Pragmatic: you apply a creative approach, and, not always the most complex mathematical solution will help our client.
• Technology driven: you have an interest in collecting, optimizing, connecting and structuring data from multiple sources.
• A bit headstrong: you think further than necessary and also give unsolicited advice.

As a basis, you bring along:

• A completed academic master’s degree in Operations Research, (Applied) Mathematics, Industrial Engineering or a related study.
• Some work experience or interest in supply chain, logistics or ICT, gained during or after your studies.
• (Demonstrated) experience or interest in mathematical optimization software programs, simulation software (Witness), SQL, Python, R, PowerBI or Qlik.
  • Experience with AIMMS is nice to have, as most of our application we support have been developed using AIMMS software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Fluent in English – excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Can work independently on projects, but is as well a powerful team player who wants to work on a wide variety of projects.
• Willingness to travel, both for incidental trips to our offices in Singapore and The Netherlands, or to APAC clients.
• We welcome both starters as consultants with 0-3 years of relevant working experience.
