Job Overview:
The Structural Drafter provides solutions to problems in the Structural Drafting discipline without supervisory approval and will evaluate and select solutions from established operating procedures and/or scientific procedures.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Min. senior high school/ diploma or equivalent with a focus on technical drawing
- Min. 3 years of experience of which 1 year should be in the use of Tekla Steel Detailing in the fabrication industry
- Demonstrating a strong understanding of technical drawing
- Proficient in using CAD software, such as AutoCAD, and 3D modeling software such as Tekla to develop accurate and detailed technical drawings
- Familiarity with industry standards and codes for drafting
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively
- Good communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with structural drafting team
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills to identify and address technical challenges in developing technical drawings
- Proactive, willing to learn, and commitment to work with good performance to maintain productivity, quality, and safety

Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and detailed structural shop drawings using 2D computer-aided design (CAD) and 3D Tekla and/or other detailing software for fabrication
- Collaborate closely with other structural drafters in developing structural shop drawings, ensuring compliance with design drawings, specifications, and fabrication requirements
- Coordinate with lead drafter to resolve technical issues
- Conduct regular self-inspections and quality checks to verify adherence to design drawings and structural codes
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to structural drafting and design
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by recommending process enhancements and implementing efficient drafting techniques
