Overview
The Science Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, inquiry-based science lessons that promote curiosity, critical thinking, and hands-on exploration. This role involves guiding students to understand scientific concepts through experimentation and real-world applications, while fostering empathy, collaboration, and respect for the environment.
Responsibilities
- Teaching & Learning
- Design and deliver dynamic science lessons that align with the school’s curriculum and learning outcomes.
- Integrate inquiry-based and experiential learning approaches that encourage observation, questioning, and discovery.
- Facilitate both theoretical and practical learning through experiments, demonstrations, and project-based activities.
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Assess student learning regularly through formative and summative methods, providing constructive feedback.
- Lesson Planning & Curriculum Development
- Prepare detailed lesson plans, teaching materials, and laboratory activities.
- Contribute to the development and review of the school’s science curriculum.
- Integrate cross-disciplinary connections (e.g., with math, technology, and environmental studies).
- Incorporate sustainability, environmental awareness, and ethical responsibility into lessons.
- Classroom Management & Safety
- Maintain an organized, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Ensure that all laboratory activities comply with safety guidelines and that students follow safety protocols.
- Supervise the use of laboratory materials and equipment responsibly.
- Promote respectful communication, teamwork, and positive behavior among students.
- Collaboration & Professional Growth
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and learning experiences.
- Participate in school events, professional development, and collaborative planning sessions.
- Reflect on and improve teaching practices in line with the school’s mission and vision.
- Additional Duties
- Support student clubs, science fairs, or extracurricular projects related to STEM or environmental education.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the School Leadership as needed to support school operations.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related scientific field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Teaching certification and classroom experience at the primary or secondary level.
- Strong command of English (Bahasa Indonesia proficiency is an advantage).
- Demonstrated ability to plan and conduct experiments safely and effectively.
- Passion for teaching and inspiring curiosity about the natural world.
- Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and commitment to holistic student development.
