Job summary

DKatalis is seeking a highly experienced leader to design and evolve our data infrastructure, crafting a robust, automated ecosystem. You will own the technical roadmap for the data platform, mentor engineers in your squad, and drive cross-functional alignment to deliver high-impact digital products.

You will oversee ETL architecture, data model quality, and governance, while partnering with Product and Engineering to refine data products from concept to implementation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software/data engineering experience.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Experience deploying and maintaining data models in high-traffic production environments.
• Expert knowledge of big data/distributed systems including Apache Kafka and Airflow.
• Cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery or Redshift.
• Mastery of Python and design patterns.
• Mentorship and team development experience.
• Experience with Lean/XP practices (TDD, Pair Programming, CI/CD) and Agile environments.
• Ability to balance technical perfection with delivering value.

About the role

Lead the design and evolution of our organisation’s data infrastructure, ensuring it operates as a robust, resilient, and highly automated ecosystem. You will be responsible for the technical roadmap of the data platform, mentoring engineers in your squad, and driving cross-functional alignment to deliver high-impact digital products.

What will you do

• Technical Leadership: Leading the design and scaling of data infrastructure; overseeing the architecture of complex ETL pipelines (batch/streaming) to ensure system resilience.
• Data Excellence: Driving standards for data model design, quality frameworks, and high-quality metadata across multiple squads.
• Governance & Security: Implementation of automated data governance tooling and ensuring all squads adhere to privacy policies and procedures.
• Strategic Collaboration: Partnering with Product and Engineering owners to design and refine the data product from concept to implementation.
• Mentorship & Coaching: Mentoring budding engineers in good engineering practices and fostering a culture of constructive public and private feedback.
• Operational Excellence: Continuously improving code quality, product execution, and automation while balancing perfection with timely value delivery.

What you need to have

• You have at least 10+ years of professional experience in software/data engineering, building highly scalable applications.
• Good written and spoken English
• Extensive track record of deploying and maintaining data models in high-traffic production environments.
• Systems: Expert knowledge of big data/distributed systems including Apache Kafka and Airflow
• Cloud: Deep expertise in cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery or Redshift.
• Programming: Mastery of Python, including abstract programming concepts and design patterns.
• Mentorship: Passion for grooming the team collectively to become the better version of themselves.
• Agile Excellence: Experience with Lean/XP practices (TDD, Pair Programming, CI/CD) and working in Agile environments.
• Pragmatism: A mindset that understands the balance between technical perfection and delivering value in a timely manner.
