Qualifications

Job description

Sr. Specialist, Forestry Strategic and Tactical Planner

Establish proper strategic wood supply modeling using optimization and simulation techniques linked with the existing APP Forest Management System.

Develop granular wood supply models at the petak level, integrating spatial data, forest measurements, and G&Y models.

Create scenarios for the wood supply plan across APP Indonesia, considering rotation age, MAI increment, wood purchase, land acquisition, to meet mill requirements, expansion, and management objectives.

Assess risks and provide awareness of potential wood supply constraints and trends.

Ensure the cascading process of strategic planning to operational plans by coordinating with relevant stakeholders.

Design strategies and methodologies for forest growth data collection, including forest inventories, PSP, and wood quality assessments.

Share and disseminate best practices in forest resource analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in forestry science, operational research, or statistics.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in forest plantation management.
  • Understanding of forest management processes: planning, silviculture, wood supply, and forest valuation.
  • Expertise in forest modeling, biometric analysis, optimization techniques, data analytics, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, statistical analysis tools (R, SAS), databases (MS Access, SQL), spatial analysis (ArcGIS, QGIS), and forest optimization software (Remsoft Woodstock or similar).
  • Strong project management skills: planning, budgeting, organizing, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and presentation.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Willing to travel for business, including remote areas.
