Overview

Our Sr Data Engineer will be an integral part of our Engineering teams in EMEA. This role is based remotely in EMEA in one of our legal entities: the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Israel, Sweden, Estonia, or Spain. It is also available to contractors in other Eastern European locations and Portugal.

The Opportunity

As a Sr Data Engineer, you will be working on improving the DoiT Cloud Intelligence product and driving the performance improvement of large-scale data warehouses. You'll be collaborating with product managers and developers from other teams and also participating in product-making decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the analysis and optimization of big data warehouse performance and cost effectiveness.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve data models and pipelines.
• Design and implement tools for monitoring and diagnosing data system health.
• Guide best practices for table design, partitioning, clustering, and indexing.
• Contribute to platform code and infrastructure to support scalable analytics.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience working with large-scale data systems in production.
• Deep knowledge of ClickHouse performance internals or any other big data platform.
• Proven expertise in query tuning, cost optimization, and storage design.
• Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with backend coding (Go, Python).
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure.
• Real-life experience with real-time analytics.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Self-organized, goal-oriented, self-motivated, confident, thorough and tenacious.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving team environment.

Bonus Points

• BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with Google Cloud or AWS services in a production environment.
