FORMULATRIX is expanding its Bandung team! As a Creative City of Design, Bandung has been renowned for its smart people and creative communities. We're looking for enthusiastic individuals with passion for exploring cutting-edge technology, particularly in laboratory automation.

As a Software Research Engineer on a FORMULATRIX Innovation Lab team, you will study and implement algorithms from research papers-adapting them to solve the problem at hand-and develop modular proof-of-concept code that can be easily integrated into parent projects. For this particular role you will focus on solving computer vision and machine learning problems. You’ll work on the technology that will be deployed to our liquid handling robots and laboratory automation products.

Job Descriptions
  • Study and implement computer vision and machine learning algorithms, adapting them to solve the problem at hand.
  • Understand the problem domain and be ready to propose innovative solutions.
  • Write modular proof-of-concept code that can be easily integrated into parent projects.
  • Write reports and present findings.
  • Be a thought partner for other engineers, supporting them with your skillset.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s (S1/D4) or Master’s (S2) degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent professional experience in machine vision software development. However, high school graduates with software development expertise may also be considered.
  • Previous industry experience is appreciated; fresh grads are also welcome.
  • Solid coding skills in modern programming languages, preferably Python, C#, or C++.
  • Strong background in machine learning and conventional computer vision algorithms.
  • Good sense of what constitutes a high-quality image dataset, and how to gather such datasets.
  • Not afraid of hardware.
  • Good command of math and physics.
  • A passion for learning new technical skills.
  • Highly motivated, strong team player.
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English.
Nice to Have
  • Data preparation, training, deploying, and maintaining neural net models (image classification, object detection, etc.).
  • Familiar with relevant libraries: TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenCV, Scikit-learn, Scikit-image, etc.
  • Optics and imaging systems: image formation, lenses, sensors, lighting, etc.
  • Linux on SBCs (Raspberry Pi, Beaglebone, NVidia Jetson).
  • Enjoys reading research papers and learning the latest advances in the field.
  • Robotics: coordinate frame, kinematics, dynamics and control, path planning.
