Get to Know the Role
As the Software Engineer, Fullstack you will have opportunities to work on multiple backend micro-service clusters. It is very important that our team members to identify problems, and have the right mindset and skill sets to solve them. You will report to the Engineering Manager. This position will be onsite at Grab office Jakarta.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
- You will design and develop solutions using Go language to enhance the availability, scalability, and efficiency of Grab's services.
- You will collaborate with the engineering team to improve design and architecture focused on scale and performance.
- You will conduct code and design reviews to maintain high development standards.
- You will contribute to service capacity planning and optimize software performance.
- You will work with product and experience teams to define and prototype feature specifications.
- You will team up with the infrastructure department to build and scale backend services and investigate root causes of issues.
- You will design, build, analyze, and troubleshoot large-scale systems.
- You will debug and resolve production incidents during on-call shifts.
- You will participate in interview processes to help recruit top industry talent.
- You will provide technical guidance and mentorship to peers.
What Essential Skills You Will Need
- Backend Skills
- 2+ years experience in software engineering with full stack web and distributed systems experience.
- Good understanding in Golang, including core syntax, concurrency, and optimization techniques.
- Strong grasp of algorithms, data structures, and system design.
- Experience with distributed systems, streaming services, and queuing models.
- Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, ScyllaDB).
- Experience with site reliability including monitoring, capacity planning, and overseeing large-scale web services.
- Familiar with networking protocols and system internals.
- Frontend Skills (Bonus)
- 1-2+ years of experience
- Experience in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Knowledge in frameworks like React, Vue.js, and Svelte.
- Understanding of state management (e.g., Redux), progressive web apps, responsive design, and accessibility.
- Full Stack & DevOps
- Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and real-time data exchanges.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.

Our main services use Golang, integrated with Redis, MySQL, DynamoDB, Kafka, and Elasticsearch for data management. Services are orchestrated using Kubernetes and run on AWS cloud infrastructure. Our mobile apps support both iOS and Android platforms with a focus on native languages like Swift and Kotlin, while frontend technologies include Rails, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.
