Job summary

DayOne Data Centers Limited in Batam operates a 24/7 hyperscale facility. We are seeking a Shift Technician for Critical Infrastructure Operations to monitor and maintain electrical and mechanical plant, respond to incidents, and ensure reliable operations across shifts.

The role requires hands-on experience with generators, UPS, switchgear, chillers and fire suppression, in a collaborative, safety-first data center environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating and maintaining electrical or mechanical plant such as generators, UPS, switchgear, chillers, cooling towers, or fire suppression systems.
• Experience in a data center or 24/7 critical environment with safety and shift operations.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and compliance in a 24/7 facility.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain critical infrastructure systems including chillers, cooling towers, power distribution, UPS, generators, and fire suppression.
• Use Building Management Systems to oversee power and cooling performance and analyze data.
• Respond to alarms and incidents; troubleshoot and coordinate repairs with vendors.
• Adhere to safety protocols; participate in drills and training; report hazards.
• Collaborate with shift technicians and support staff for smooth shift transitions.

As Shift Technician for Critical Infrastructure Operations, you will be one of the people keeping it running.This is a hands-on technical role on the facility operations floor of Batam's first hyperscale data center. The systems you will maintain are electrical and mechanical: power distribution, generators, UPS, chillers, and fire suppression. **This is a facilities engineering role, not an IT, networking, or server support role.** You will monitor and maintain the critical plant that powers and cools the facility, respond to incidents, and ensure every shift runs to the highest standard. The work you do here directly protects the digital services that enterprises across the region depend on.**Your Responsibilities****Operations and Maintenance*** Monitor and maintain critical infrastructure systems including chillers, cooling towers, power distribution, UPS, generators, and fire suppression* Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on all plant and equipment to OEM and DayOne standards* Respond promptly to alarms and incidents, performing troubleshooting and repairs as needed**System Monitoring*** Use Building Management Systems (BMS) and monitoring tools to oversee power and cooling performance across the facility* Record and analyse data from monitoring systems to ensure optimal performance and identify potential issues early**Incident Management*** Manage and escalate incidents according to established protocols* Coordinate with vendors and service providers for troubleshooting and repairs* Document all incidents, maintenance activities, and repairs in the maintenance management system**Health and Safety*** Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures at all times* Participate in safety drills and training sessions* Report any safety hazards or incidents to the Shift Lead promptly**Team Collaboration*** Work closely with fellow shift technicians and support staff to ensure seamless shift transitions* Contribute to team meetings and continuous improvement initiatives**Requirements*** Hands-on experience operating and maintaining electrical or mechanical plant such as generators, UPS, switchgear, chillers, cooling towers, or fire suppression systems* Experience gained in a data center, power plant, utility, oil and gas facility, marine engine room, or a similar 24/7 critical environment* Knowledge of safety protocols, compliance standards, and shift operations in a 24/7 environment* Willingness to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and public holidays* Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Power Engineering, or a related technical discipline* Collaborative team player who supports others and contributes to a high-performing shift culture**Nice to Have*** Familiarity with Indonesian safety regulations and compliance frameworks* Experience with BMS or Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platforms* Prior exposure to commissioning or integration of new plant and equipment**Why DayOne**Joining DayOne in Batam means being part of something genuinely new: the first campus of its kind on the island, backed by the Indonesian government and connected into one of the world's most active digital corridors.
