Job summary

Star Energy Geothermal is seeking an SHE Engineer – Environmental to support environmental management systems across geothermal operations, exploration activities, and development projects.

Responsibilities include monitoring, audits, reporting, and regulatory submissions to ensure compliance, with a focus on improving environmental performance and sustainability across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or other relevant engineering disciplines.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental management, environmental compliance, or sustainability-related roles in energy, geothermal, oil & gas, mining, construction, or high-risk industries.
• Proven experience in environmental monitoring, reporting, auditing, and compliance implementation.
• Experience managing environmental permits and regulatory requirements (AMDAL, UKL-UPL, Pertek, SLO).
• Hands-on experience supporting environmental management systems and sustainability initiatives.
• Preferred: PROPER performance experience (Gold initiatives) and related certifications.
• ISO 14001 training or certification preferred.
• Basic SHE certifications (e.g., AK3U) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental monitoring, inspections, audits, and assessments with timely corrective actions.
• Prepare and submit environmental reports and compliance documentation to regulators and internal stakeholders.
• Support permitting processes and regulatory submissions throughout project lifecycles.
• Coordinate with project teams and contractors to ensure environmental controls are implemented.
• Investigate environmental incidents, identify root causes, and recommend preventive actions.
• Deliver training and engagement programs to strengthen compliance and environmental responsibility.
• Support ESG initiatives to improve environmental performance and reduce operational risks.
• Provide technical support for assessments, audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
• Support PROPER program implementation and contribute to Gold initiatives.

Star Energy Geothermal is looking for an SHE Engineer – Environmental to support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of environmental management systems across our geothermal operations, exploration activities, and development projects.

This role is responsible for ensuring environmental compliance, managing environmental risks, supporting sustainability initiatives, and strengthening environmental performance across the organization. As part of Indonesia's leading geothermal energy producer, this role will contribute to maintaining responsible operations while advancing environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, and long-term sustainability objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain environmental management programs across operational, exploration, and project activities in alignment with regulatory requirements, permits, and corporate standards.
• Conduct environmental monitoring, inspections, audits, and assessments covering air emissions, water quality, wastewater management, hazardous waste, noise control, and other environmental aspects, ensuring timely corrective actions are implemented.
• Prepare, review, and submit accurate environmental reports and compliance documentation to regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders.
• Support environmental permitting processes and the preparation of regulatory submissions throughout project lifecycles.
• Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and operational functions to ensure environmental controls and management plans are effectively implemented.
• Investigate environmental incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive actions to minimize recurrence and environmental impact.
• Promote environmental awareness by delivering training, guidance, and engagement programs to strengthen compliance and environmental responsibility across the workforce.
• Support implementation of ESG-related initiatives and sustainability programs by identifying opportunities to improve environmental performance and reduce operational risks.
• Provide technical support for environmental assessments, audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance reviews across operational sites and projects.
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the PROPER program, contributing to performance enhancement from Blue through Gold levels.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or other relevant engineering disciplines.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental management, environmental compliance, or sustainability-related roles within energy, geothermal, oil & gas, mining, construction, or other high-risk industries.
• Proven experience in environmental monitoring, reporting, auditing, and compliance implementation.
• Experience managing environmental permits and regulatory requirements, including AMDAL, UKL-UPL, Pertek, and SLO processes.
• Hands-on experience supporting environmental management systems and sustainability initiatives.
• Experience supporting and improving PROPER performance, including participation in PROPER Gold initiatives, is highly preferred.
• Environmental competency certifications related to AMDAL, UKL-UPL, Environmental Management, Sustainability, or ESG are preferred.
• ISO 14001 Environmental Management System training or certification is preferred.
• Basic SHE or Occupational Safety certifications, such as AK3U, are considered an advantage.
• Understanding of hazardous waste management, air emission control, water management, wastewater treatment, and pollution prevention practices.
• Familiarity with environmental management systems, ESG principles, sustainability reporting, and environmental performance improvement programs.
