Job summary

European Space Agency (ESA) in Noordwijk, Netherlands, seeks an Instrument Optical and Performance Lead Engineer for the Sentinel-2 Next Generation mission. You will lead the delivery of optical elements, coordinate design, verification and calibration activities, and work with the D/TEC and operations directorate to ensure mission requirements are met.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in an engineering discipline with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
• Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in optical space-borne instruments design and testing.

Responsibilities

• Lead the specification, design, procurement, integration and verification of instrument optics.
• Coordinate end-to-end instrument performance verification and in-flight commissioning.
• Monitor progress and manage risk, costs and schedules.
• Interface with D/TEC and other project teams to ensure technical alignment.
• Supervise a team of engineers and external support across the project lifetime.
