Job Overview:
The Senior Structural Drafter completes various Structural Drafting assignments with limited supervision. They serve as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience and have proficiency in analytical processes for assigned tasks. They directly impact the quality of the team's work.
Qualifications:
- Minimum High School Diploma, with a Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering or a related field and 3 years of experience; or at least 7 years of experience as a Structural Drafter or similar role within the EPCI industry, preferably with team supervision experience.
- Proficiency in 3D (Tekla) & 2D (AutoCAD/MicroStation) structural drafting, modeling, and drawing extraction.
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards such as API, AISC, ACI, and ASCE.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements accurately.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve design conflicts.
- Detail-oriented, capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with project management and scheduling tools.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and oversee a team of structural drafters to ensure project completion within the EPCI industry.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, guiding the team in preparing detailed structural drawings.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and stakeholders to align drafting activities with project goals.
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Mentor and coach team members, providing technical guidance and training.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve design conflicts and ensure system integration.
- Utilize CAD software (AutoCAD, Tekla, Navisworks, Revit) to create and modify models, assemblies, shop drawings, and BOMs.
- Support procurement and construction activities with documentation and as-built drawings.
- Stay updated on industry practices and incorporate new technologies to improve drafting efficiency.
- Implement prefabrication and erection methods, and update shop drawings based on project change requests.
- Maintain discipline-specific and interdisciplinary check drawings and filing systems.
- Maintain the master drawing set and report errors with suggested resolutions.
