The Senior Production Engineer applies best practices and expertise to enhance the production discipline at McDermott. They serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues, sharing conceptual and practical knowledge related to production. The Senior Production Engineer addresses complex problems and leverages discipline-specific knowledge to improve products or services.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree (S1/D4) in Civil Engineering (steel construction), Ocean/Offshore Engineering, or Shipbuilding/Naval Engineering.
- Minimum six (6) years of experience in oil & gas and/or renewable energy fabrication and construction projects with major contractors or consultants.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of the onshore/offshore Oil & Gas construction industry.
- Knowledge of industry codes, standards, and best practices related to production processes and project execution of facilities.
- Relevant training and/or certifications in Project Execution.
- Proven experience in the EPCI industry or similar engineering fields.
- Experience in leading teams and managing large-scale projects.
- Excellent problem-solving skills for complex technical challenges.
- Understanding of discipline-level fabrication strategies for complex projects involving multinational teams and clients.
- Strong communication skills for effective stakeholder collaboration.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities
- Guide discipline production engineers to understand the scope of work and project schedule.
- Review Work Packages to ensure they align with fabrication sequences and schedules.
- Develop a work pack index, set priorities, and align with the project schedule.
- Ensure documentation and procedural compliance throughout project phases.
- Review material expediting reports and address concerns with mitigation strategies involving relevant parties.
- Initiate site/technical queries to resolve fabrication/construction issues effectively.
- Provide field guidance and ensure compliance with project and company specifications.
- Attend production meetings and report concerns.
- Identify scope changes or additional work and initiate change orders as needed.
- Monitor fabrication progress and productivity against schedules and budgets, coordinating with the Fabrication Coordinator.
- Develop fabrication four-week look-ahead plans, prioritizing materials and drawings, and communicate issues to the Fabrication Coordinator or PMT.
- Lead the Discipline Production Engineering team, coordinating with stakeholders to meet fabrication requirements.
- Establish productive relationships with project superintendents and supervisors to meet fabrication targets.
- Contribute to project constructability reviews and resolve construction issues at the discipline level.
- Support inter/intra-functional interfaces and project reporting, including AFC estimate reviews and fabrication sequencing.
- Supervise discipline Production Engineers, ensuring optimal resource utilization, and identify resource needs.
- Develop and mentor junior engineers to foster professional growth.
