Job summary

Caterpillar Indonesia Batam is seeking a Production Manager to lead a dynamic team across assembly areas, driving production excellence and strategic initiatives. You will guide 6–8 section managers, oversee safety, scheduling, and quality, and champion continuous improvement and coaching.

The role requires hands-on leadership in a manufacturing environment, with relocation available and regular onsite work in Batam. A strong emphasis on Lean/Six Sigma and team development is essential.

Qualifications

• Educational background required: a bachelor''s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
• Experience: at least 7 years in supervisory or managerial role within shop or operations manufacturing.
• English proficiency required; strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Manage the PQVC for the value streams and lead production teams.
• Oversee staffing, development, and performance management for operations staff; motivate and develop management.
• Supervise operations activities, ensuring safety, schedules, and performance requirements are met.
• Monitor overall operations performance and implement production safety, cost, and quality controls.

You will work both in an office and manufacturing shop-floor environment.

Domestic relocation is available for this position.

What You Will Do

• This position requires managing the People, Quality, Velocity and Cost (PQVC) for the value streams.
• Managing staffing, development, and performance management programs for operations staff; managing, motivating, and developing management team.
• Overseeing operations activities, ensuring that safety, and schedules and performance requirements are met, and system resources are used effectively.
• Monitoring overall operations performance and implementing production safety, cost, and quality control mechanisms.
• Ensures the compliance of all regulatory guidelines and forges a safe and sound manufacturing environment.

What Skills You Have

• Manufacturing Operations: Knowledge of manufacturing operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility for products.
• Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
• Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
• Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.
• Production Scheduling and Control: Knowledge of procedures and tools for scheduling and controlling production runs; ability to utilize knowledge of daily manufacturing processes to assure quality deliverables.
• Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.

What Will Set You Apart

• Educational Background: A minimum of a bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field
• Experience: At least 7 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role within shop or operations manufacturing industries, or a similar, relevant position.
• Language Proficiency: Good proficiency in English is required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members and stakeholders.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.

Physical Requirements (With Or Without Reasonable Accommodation)

• This job requires extensive active movement throughout the plant including climbing stairs and steps, lifting devices, and pushing and pulling equipment.
